FMM’s Vision

To make Malaysian industries Competitive Globally

FMM Institute was incorporated as a separate company of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM established in 1968) on 12 January 1999. This e�ort was speci�cally made to expand and focus on its training functions in line with the objectives of FMM to develop the potentials and enhance the skills of employees at every level in the industry. This would then create a pool of manpower trained in all aspects of management capabilities and industrial skills to face the challenges as the country moves into the status of an industrialized nation.

FMM Institute o�ers a wide range of functional training programmes to cater to the diverse needs of the manufacturing and service sectors. Continuing professional education provides the opportunity for the working personnel to gain the necessary quali�cations to upgrade themselves both professionally as well as for self-development. This opportunity is made possible through the FMM Institute, Penang Branch's Executive Certi�cate, Public, Workshop, Conference, In-House and Technical programmes in many selected areas of industrial and management skills.

FMM Institute's programmes can also be specially customized to meet the training needs of speci�c industries and be conducted on an in-house basis. Programme outlines and objectives are discussed with the companies and facilitators will be selected to develop the programme accordingly. All in-house programmes are packaged to be cost e�ective for companies with no compromise on the quality of the programmes and the desired results.

FMM Institute is a registered training provider with Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB). All our programmes comply with the requirements of the Human Resource Development Board to be eligible for training grants under HRDF.

SME Skills Upgrading Grant

PSMB SMEs Skills Upgrading Grant is now availaible for all SME companies. The PSMB is funding 70% of the course fees. The balance of 30% is claimable under the SBL scheme from Pembangunan Sumber Manusia Berhad (PSMB).

Eligible SMEs can NOW engage FMM Institute, Penang Branch to conduct the approved programmes as their 2-day in-house training programmes with a minimum of 10 participants from the same participating company.

Similar programmes are also being organized under the Public (2 days) and Certi�cate categories. Attached for your attention is the list of programmes.

Please note that the availability of the grant is based on a �rst-come-�rst served basis.

Eligibility factors for the SME Skills Upgrading Programmes includes the following:

1. Manufacturing sector (including agricultural-based industries) and manufacturing- related services:

a. Annual sales value is not more than RM25 million OR with less than 150 full-time employees. b. Must possess a Manufacturing License as well as a License from the Local Council.

2. Services sector (including ICT but excluding �nance, banking and insurance): a. Annual sales value is not more than RM5 million OR with less than 50 full-time employees. b. Must possess s Business License OR a letter of license exemption from the Local Council to con�rm business is legal.

3. ONLY applicable to LOCAL full-time employees and contractual employees (minimum of one year contract), and

4. SMEs must be registered under the Companies Act 1965 (Private Limited companies) OR the Registration of Business Act 1956 (Enterprise companies) with a majority of Malaysian shareholders (minimum 60%).
