To carry out this mission, the organization provides monthly food distribution that reaches over 2,000 individuals every month, scholarship and tuition assistance, referrals for family counseling and employment, and used cars. There are future plans to open a free clinic, provide disaster relief, work with the elderly, work with the abused, and provide referrals for medical and legal services. Rahima Foundation has received national recognition for its work, including coverage by ABC News. Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County Catholic Charities serves and advocates for families and individuals in need, especially those living in poverty. In 2011, under their Behavioral Health Services program they provided 234 clients with community counseling services, placed 200 clients in jobs, provided over 850 individuals and families with affordable housing. Under their Children Youth and Family Development Services, they provided academic enrichment services to 4,000 children and youth, processed 5,500 requests from inmates, processed 2,040 tax returns putting $2.8 million in tax refunds back into the pockets of working poor families, and served 3,000 clients on immigration. Under the Older Adult Services program, over 2,000 seniors participated in the Senior Nutrition program, and over 12,000 residents of nursing or residential facilities were seen by the Long Term Care Ombudsman program. Tzu Chi Foundation Tzu Chi Foundation was founded in 1989, and there are now more than 80 offices and facilities in the U.S. with over 100,000 volunteers and donors working to make a difference in their local communities. Tzu Chi U.S.A. has more than 20 community programs. Volunteers are active in programs such as family services, services to the homeless, visits to senior homes, medical and dental services, recycling, and reading to children. Tzu Chi U.S.A. also works with neighbourhood schools and organizations such as the Foothill Unity Center and the Center for the Pacific Asian Family in Los Angeles, the Habitat for Humanity in Dallas, and the Ronald McDonald House in Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Pasadena, Falls Church, Baltimore, and Washington DC. You are cordially invited to attend this monthly Community gathering educational and social program and dinner with your entire family and friends. You do not have to purchase any tickets to attend this program. Dinner is complimentary. Donations are welcome. This “SBIA Family Night” program is held on the first Friday evening of every month.
