Fluor in Australia

Fluor is proud to have helped shape the face of Australia over the last 60 years. Today, Fluor’s operations in Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth deliver major Mining & Metals, Energy & Chemicals, Industrial Services and Infrastructure projects across Australia and around the world.

Mining & Metals: Australia’s abundant natural resources have always been, and continue to play an important part in the national economy. Fluor assists many clients in mining for coal, iron ore, bauxite, copper, gold, nickel, cobalt, zinc, lead and silver. Many of Fluor’s projects are in remote locations and require specialised execution approaches to overcome the challenges associated with the project environment.

Energy & Chemicals: Fluor supports Australia’s energy and chemicals market through the design, engineering, construction and project management of onshore gas process plants, natural gas pipelines, offshore production facilities and petrochemical facilities. Fluor Australia became a regular contractor for energy and chemicals in the 1960’s when they built two petrochemical plants in Altona, Victoria.

Industrial Services provide asset centric services to worldwide clients, with Fluor Australia a leading provider of facility delivery and performance solutions. Fluor professionals deliver tailored solutions that improve a facility’s operating efficiency and reduce maintenance costs. Optimising a facility’s processes and systems ultimately increases client profitability, while maintaining the highest levels of safety and quality.

Engineer your career with FluorWhere is Fluor? Literally all over the world. For more than a century, Fluor’s valued employees have engineered and built power plants that light up cities; offshore platforms and refineries that fuel commerce; pharmaceutical facilities that produce medicines to make us healthier; mine sites that supply manufacturing materials; and roads and bridges that get us to and from work safely. We continue to build and maintain some of the world’s toughest projects that positively impact your daily life. You have already met Fluor, as wherever you go, Fluor is there.

Graduates Advancing to Professionalism (GAP)

Understanding the importance of professional development, social networking and volunteering for our graduates, Fluor created a unique organisation know as Graduates Advancing to Professionalism (GAP). GAP is run by graduates for graduates and seeks to ‘bridge the gap’ between Fluor and graduates, providing a variety of benefits such as:

• Increased understanding of Fluor culture and business operations

• Increased leadership skills through the GAP Committees

• Increased teamwork through strong social ties

• Improved communication skills

• Increased exposure to Fluor management

• Enhanced pride in the company

New graduates employed at Fluor are encouraged to become involved in their local GAP chapter.

“Fluor’s Australian operations deliver major Mining & Metals, Energy & Chemicals, Industrial Services, and Infrastructure projects across Australia and around the world.”

Graduate Recruitment and Development

Fluor is committed to graduate development and offers recent university graduates practical, ‘real world’ project and construction experience to complement their academic achievements. We typically look for graduates in the following engineering disciplines who thrive on challenge, want to invest in their personal career growth, and have a passion to build world-class facilities.

We also offer opportunities to graduates in our Corporate and Project Services functions depending on business needs.

The ‘graduate experience’ at Fluor focuses on developing technical skills and naturally rotating graduates through the actual life-cycle of a project. Fluor graduates gain experience in an office and project site environment within their respective engineering discipline, while having the opportunity to rotate into a non-discipline role (e.g., procurement, project controls, contracts, and business development). Mentoring and support towards attaining professional chartered status also forms part of the graduate program experience. During the first three to four years with Fluor, graduates discover the diversity of projects and industries that Fluor operates in.
