Welcome to our final Fluid Edition for 2017, I can’t believe just how quickly this year has gone bye. If you set goals at the beginning of the year, I trust you are achieving the results you set for yourself and your team? There are so many great, new and exciting things happening within the world of PIRTEK.

In this past year we have opened 12 new PIRTEK locations, which is exciting to see. The growth, hard work and dedication is rewarding for all of those who are involved and we are certainly looking forward to the success of these new additions to the PIRTEK family.

This time of year is an opportunity to take advantage of PIRTEK’s Preventative Maintenance programs. Especially as the ground freezes up North and the construction equipment is inactive over these months. PIRTEK offers programs that will have your machinery ready for optimum up time in the early spring.

In September we hosted our Regional Meeting in Charlotte, where we were able to spend some quality time together and also to get a behind the scenes tour of the TEAM PENSKE facilities. It’s great to see the PIRTEK brand associated with such an iconic organization. We are looking forward to the future and

opportunities that lay ahead.

We continue to update on the NASCAR Truck series, PIRTEK Enduro Cup, and the Chris Kyle Foundation in this edition. Some exciting things with the Snocross season about to ramp up, we will cover the upcoming race schedule, PIRTEK Snocross National event and a special feature on Gary the Groomer.

In May, we had our ground-breaking ceremony for our new PIRTEK USA Corporate Headquarters and since then, the progress has been immense. In this edition, we will cover the transformation of the building to date. I trust that you will enjoy this edition of Fluid. PIRTEK expands Southeast presence with its first hydraulic hose service location in South Carolina

Jason Barrs opened his franchise, PIRTEK Columbia, under the company’s Tier 2 model, which was rolled out last year.

Barrs became a PIRTEK owner after 17 years in the insurance industry working in claims. Before working in insurance, however, Barrs had spent some time in the hydraulics industry. He thought about returning to that field in some capacity, and started searching online for a franchise after a friend suggested he consider that route. “PIRTEK popped up on top of the search results,” he said. “So, I checked out the company, did my homework and liked what I was seeing.”

After he contacted the headquarters in Rockledge, FL, and inquired into PIRTEK franchising, Barrs decided to make the trip down to gain a better feel for the company. “It just kind of took off from there,” he said. “When I went down there, I was excited. When

I left, I was thrilled and I couldn’t wait to get started.”

Barrs plans to pursue the typical industries that benefit from PIRTEK’s services: construction, manufacturing, farming. “I’m looking forward to growing the business and making this successful,” he said. “I firmly believe that life leads you where it’s going to lead you. Life led me here and it’s exciting.”

PIRTEK enhances presence in California with addition of mobile-only hose service franchise in Corona

PIRTEK continued its expansion in California with the opening of PIRTEK Corona. Corona opened in September under the Tier 2 model, making it the eighth PIRTEK location in the Golden State.

Kelly Curran, who also owns PIRTEK OC in nearby Orange, CA., expanded into Corona largely because he could see the potential in the city’s flourishing construction market. “That area made sense for us because of proximity, obviously, but also there’s a

lot of work in the region that’s readily accessible,” said Curran, who opened the full Service & Supply Center in the OC location in June. “It has a lot of promise and we can cultivate that.”

Curran said he will focus on the heavy-equipment and construction markets in Corona, which is about 22 miles east of Orange. The Corona location is a mobile-only business. Curran said he thoroughly researched Corona’s business market and considers Tier 2 an ideal opportunity in the Riverside County city of nearly 175,000 residents.

“Initially having a Tier 2 means we can service the area out of the OC location,” he said. “We can sufficiently supply the location until we open a full Service & Supply Center in Corona within the next few years.” His rapid success with the OC location also was a catalyst in the expansion into Corona.“We have had great success in Orange, and when this opportunity became available, we jumped on it,” he said. “It just makes sense. It’s a seamless transition.”

Franchise Presence in the US Continues Substantial Growth


PIRTEK expands in the Midwest with mobile-only hose service location in Madison, WI

PIRTEK Madison opened in October under the company’s Tier 2 model, making it the second PIRTEK franchise in the state.

Dylan Rausch, who joined PIRTEK Menomonee Falls (WI) in 2015, jumped at the opportunity to own his own franchise.“When I first came aboard PIRTEK, I wasn’t completely comfortable considering going out on my own,” said Rausch, who started as a technician before advancing to a manager at PIRTEK Menomonee Falls. “When the Tier 2 opportunity came up, I didn’t hesitate, especially now that I have experienced what is required to operate a successful franchise. I certainly appreciate this opportunity.”

Rausch said he will focus on the rental and construction markets in Madison, which is about 75 miles east of Menomonee Falls. Rausch’s location is a mobile-only business, featuring two fully equipped, 24-hour Mobile Service Vehicles. Rausch said

he researched Madison’s business community extensively and considers Tier 2 an excellent opportunity in the capital city. “I did my homework,” he said. “Now I’m spreading the word that we’re not a new company, but part of a worldwide franchising company that’s been in existence for more than three decades.”

PIRTEK expands presence in Washington state with opening of second metro Seattle location

Gregory Shideler, owner of the new Tier 2, also owns PIRTEK Kent in metro Seattle. “This is an area where I’ve already been serving PIRTEK customers, so it’s familiar territory,” said Shideler, who plans to convert the mobile-only business into a Tier 1 by 2020. “There are a lot of ports, railroads, construction sites, manufacturing facilities. It’s a prime area.”

Before becoming a PIRTEK owner, Shideler worked overseas in both the fishing industry and the oil and gas

business. His acquisition of PIRTEK Kent two years ago enabled him to move back to his hometown of Seattle and operate an established business. The current opening of a Tier 2, Shideler said, is a cost-effective way for him to expand his existing territory and pursue new business.

“Growing into new areas and gaining new customers is always a welcome opportunity,” he said. “Seattle is an especially great area to operate in, and I’m happy to be establishing an even stronger PIRTEK presence here.”

Sterling Heights is Best in Show For This Classic-Car Owner

Bruce Bartolotto had made the 600-mile trek in his 1954 Chevrolet from his home in Glens Falls, NY, to Detroit to participate in the prestigious Woodward Dream Cruise car show, when a power steering hose suddenly began leaking. After visiting three repair shops in the area, Bruce was directed to PIRTEK Sterling Heights, one of four Metro Detroit locations.

Bruce arrived at Sterling Heights on a Monday at 3:45 p.m., 15 minutes before closing. The technicians on hand, A.J. Hait and Corey Phillips, assured the customer the power steering hose would be replaced immediately, even if it required them to stay after hours. About 45 minutes later, the techs had replaced both power steering hoses and Bruce was on his way to the car show.

“I'm so grateful for what they did,” Bruce wrote in the online comment section at pirtekusa.com. “I can't thank them enough. I have been telling all my friends and showing them the nice job they did. Thanks so much

to your people at PIRTEK Sterling Heights.”

Following the event, Bruce said he was impressed with the PIRTEK technicians. “They knew what they were doing and the price was very reasonable,” he said, adding he was grateful that Brothers Custom Automotive in nearby Troy steered him to PIRTEK. “I was new to PIRTEK, but I’m happy it is out there.”

All four PIRTEK locations in Metro Detroit have countless custom-car enthusiasts who utilize them for automotive hoses and line repairs. In addition, they work with several types of businesses that are in the market for custom-built hose assemblies for air conditioning, brakes, transmission, fuel lines and, of course, power steering.

PIRTEK USA Corporate Headquarters – Taking ShapeThe new PIRTEK USA headquarters building is now starting to take shape! Since our last update in the previous Fluid Magazine Edition, we have seen immense progress. There are now walls up along the entire ground level and the second story walls are being built up next. The warehouse portion of the building has the metal beam wall/roof structure built and they are working on completing the roof.

Over the next few months we will see the building come to fruition more and more each week. Since our ground breaking in May, the progress has been monumental. In the next Edition, we will have most of the construction portion of the building complete, stay tuned!


Pocono Raceway, July 29th

The official results from the Overton's 150 at Pocono Raceway will list Austin Cindric with a seventh-place finish. With a much-improved truck, Cindric steadily worked his way through traffic during Stage 2. Cindric did an admirable job holding off Cody Coughlin over the final 10 miles to bring his truck home in the seventh position. The young rookie racked up his fourth-consecutive top 10 and held firm to the 10th position in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings.

Michigan, August 12th

Cindric qualified eighth for the 100-lap, 200-mile race and the young driver had his hands full with a loose-handling Ford F-150 during Stage 1. Without any drafting help, Cindric’s chances to win faded, but the young driver squeezed back in line on the final lap to claim

fifth-place at the checkered flag. The Michigan race was Cindric’s strongest NASCAR Camping World Truck Series performance to date.

Bristol, August 16th Cindric reeled off his sixth consecutive top 10 and third in a row on a short track. He remains 10th in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings, 55 points behind the final playoff position. Cindric cycled into the race lead during the stage break when others on the lead lap pitted on lap 62. He began Stage 2 as the race leader and ran well during the 55-lap segment, finishing in third position. Shortly after the wave of the green flag, Cindric was split three-wide in traffic. Although he bounced off his competitors in the frantic dash to the finish, Cindric brushed away the contact and claimed ninth-place at the checkered flag.

Chicagoland, September 15th

Austin Cindric experienced his share of struggles during TheHouse.com 225 at Chicagoland Speedway, but one bright spot was the lightning-quick performance of the Draw-Tite pit crew. Cindric gamely held on as best he could, but the needed yellow flag never waved. He was running 13th when he made an unscheduled stop on lap 149 to tighten possible loose lug nuts and was credited with a 15th-place finish in the final rundown. He will enter the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series playoffs as the sixth seed, 33 points behind the leader.

New Hampshire, September 23rd

Austin Cindric rallied back from a spin with less than 50 laps to

go to claim an eighth-place finish in the UNOH 175 on Saturday afternoon at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Cindric is fifth in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings, five points ahead of the first round cutoff position. He claimed his tenth top-10 finish in 16 races this season. Las Vegas, September 30thNothing in NASCAR racing comes easy and no better example of that was Austin Cindric's fourth-place finish at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Cindric overcame a damaged race truck and a mid-race spin to rally back for his fifth top-five finish of the season. He holds the final transfer position into the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Playoffs Round of 6 with an eight point edge over seventh-place Kaz Grala.

Talladega, October 14th

Austin Cindric picked off five positions on the final lap to score

a fifth-place finish in the Fred’s 250 at Talladega Superspeedway. Cindric lined up 10th for the final two-lap dash and dove into the low line between Turns 1 and 2 on the restart. He took the white flag in the seventh position then dodged an incident triggered when Noah Gragson and Johnny Sauter made contact in Turn 1, collecting five trucks and forcing the race to end under yellow. Cindric crossed the finish line in fifth, capturing a spot in the next round of the Playoffs.

Martinsville, October 28th

Austin Cindric stayed in the thick of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Playoffs with a 10th-place finish at the Texas Roadhouse 200 at Martinsville Speedway. Cindric claimed his 13th top-10 finish of the season and moved up to fifth in the series championship standings, 11 points behind the fourth-place Ben Rhodes.

Boats wrapped with PIRTEK branding participate in an event honoring those who served their country

Keith Kapaun said it was one of the best days of fishing he’s ever had. And he didn’t catch any fish – in fact, he didn’t even wet a line.

The operations manager from PIRTEK Midway volunteered to take two military veterans out on Mille Lacs Lake on Aug. 20. About 100 miles from the Twin Cities, the inland lake is Minnesota’s second-largest – more than 200 miles of surface area. It was an event promoted by the nonprofit organization Take a Vet Fishing.

Rich Thies, operations manager of PIRTEK Plymouth, also participated. Both men took out boats wrapped in the PIRTEK branding and functioned as guides for the military veterans. “Not that they needed a lot of help,” Kapaun said of the two veterans he took out on the lake. “Maybe just a little help dialing in on the fish; after that it was all on them.”

Take a Vet Fishing

Kapaun and Thies took out a total of three men: two Vietnam veterans and one Iraq war veteran.

Take a Vet Fishing operates in Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin. Founded in 2011, the Bartlett, IL-

based organization aims to offer service men and women “a day of giving back,” a time for them to relax and enjoy the peace of nature. PIRTEK USA and PIRTEK Midway owner Craig Heitkamp sponsored the boats that participated in the event. “It was nice just being out there on the water,” Kapaun said. “It was one of the most fun fishing days I’ve had

and I didn’t have a line in the water. It’s nice just taking somebody out and actually seeing smiles on their faces when they catch one or two.”

‘A band of my brothers and sisters’

Both Kapaun and Thies served in the military. That being the case, helping veterans was a welcome opportunity for both men. “Considering I’m one of them, this is important to me,” Kapaun said. “After all, we are a band of brothers and sisters.”

Thies also expressed appreciation at being able to serve vets. “They’ve done so much in the service of our country,” he said. “It’s

a great privilege to take them out to enjoy the unspoiled lakes and the thrill of pulling in walleye, bass or whatever else they can land. They’re great people and it’s a pleasure to serve them.”

All total, 68 veterans signed up for the event in Minnesota. The number included some World War II veterans. Vets on the lake that day pulled

in between 20 and 30 walleyes.

Raising brand awareness in the process

The PIRTEK-branded boat helps the team market and promote the company. Kapaun said they do as much “marketing” with it, as often as they can – in other words, the men love to fish. “We use the boat a lot, even when we go on fun fishing trips,” he said.

“We’ve dragged that boat about 10, 000 miles on land alone.”

Both Kapaun and Thies compete regularly in tournament fishing and take their sport seriously. “It’s been a childhood dream to fish on the pro circuit,” Thies said. “The pride that comes with driving around on the lake, and up and down the highways with the wrapped boat on the trailer – it’s a good feeling.”

Whether he’s reporting Snocross track conditions, promoting other PIRTEK-sponsored events or courting his romantic interest, popular digital-media personality Gary the Groomer will be busy this year with his usual antics.

Now in his second season, Gary is a character designed to draw more attention to PIRTEK’s involvement in the AMSOIL Championship Snocross series – with a dose of fun and humor. “It started as a lighthearted way to make people more aware of our sponsorship in Snocross, but his popularity grew quickly,” said Georganne DeSeve, PIRTEK USA Marketing Manager. “He’s managed to draw such a large following on Twitter that we’re expanding his presence to Facebook and Instagram. People really like him.”

PIRTEK will again be sponsoring these races, which are a snowmobile equivalent of Motocross. The series, coordinated by the International Series of Champions (ISOC), runs from November to March with races throughout the Midwest and New York. The company is the named sponsor – The PIRTEK Snocross National Presented by Jimmy John's – for the Jan. 5-6 series stop at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN.

As part of its sponsorship, PIRTEK receives significant visibility and brand recognition through signage at individual races, branding on various race merchandise, banner ads on the Snocross website, and other advertising and media opportunities. New this year, PIRTEK will offer ticket giveaways with opportunities to ride on a groomer.

In addition, Craig Heitkamp, owner of PIRTEK Midway and PIRTEK Plymouth, both in Minnesota, is sponsoring the Hentges Racing Team for the 13th year. The Hentges team is receiving support from other PIRTEK locations in the region, including Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit and Denver.

References to Gary the Groomer may raise an obvious question: What’s a

groomer? The character is patterned after a snow groomer, a large vehicle that moves the snow around and prepares the track for the high-performance snowmobile racers.

In addition to Snocross news and track reports, Gary announces PIRTEK franchise openings, highlights company activities and often comments on fun, trending topics.

During the summer, when Snocross is still a long way off, Gary tweets the old “wish you were here” line from various tourist spots where he’s vacationing in the off season. A second character has shown up recently in Gary’s pictures on social media, a love interest: Sandy the Snowplow.

The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation in association with PIRTEK has recently hosted a number of service couples on Date Night Outs and Revitalization Retreats with NHRA Mello Hello series Top Fuel Championship leaders, Torrence Racing.The couples head to the drag racing event and are hosted right next to Steve Torrence's 330mph rocketship.

After dining among the team they are taken to the start line for the most exhilarating experience in sport - feeling a Top Fuel dragster launch and the 2.6 it registers on the Richter scale and see it going from 0 to 60mph in one full circulation of the massive rear tires.

An Oklahoma Police couple that recently went out to the event in Texas on a Revitalization Retreat had an amazing time. The rigors of service has been taking its toll on their marriage - to the point of them almost splitting. Thanks to the opportunity they received from the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation and PIRTEK, they were able to reconnect as a result of the experience and enjoy the downtime together - to the point where they felt they could go on together, such was the positive impact of escaping for a day with each other.

It is what the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation's mission embodies: To Honor God, Country, and Families Who Serve by providing experiences that strengthen military and first responder marriages and families.The Las Vegas NHRA event saw more couples from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department hosted by Torrence Racing. With the recent events in Vegas it gave these men and their wives the chance to hang out for a day in the sun and enjoy the racing and each other's company.

Whilst many weren't race fans, the experience of being part of the team for the day made a huge difference in their lives allowing them to escape what they all recognized as a constant stress.

The Chris Kyle Frog Foundation - launched on November 11 three years ago is aiming to broaden it's reach and impact over the coming 12 months with continued support from organizations like PIRTEK, it's customers and franchisees.

Special Golf Day To Honor Chris Kyle & Texas Legends

The first annual Chris Kyle Legendary Classic took place on Monday November 6 at Tierra Verde Golf Club in Arlington. The event name was conceived by Chris's son after Arlington Constable Clint Burgess approached Taya Kyle about the event and making it an event to raise funds and awareness for the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation in the Arlington area.

With support from major sponsors like PIRTEK, it brought together hundreds of golfers who took on the course and then relaxed at the 19th Hole with tunes from a number of high profile Texas musical artists, headlined by Coffey Anderson. The event named each hole after a service member - either currently in the line of duty like Sheriff Bill Wayboyrn from nearby Tarrant County or the five officers that were gunned down in a Dallas Police Department incident last year.

The Chris Kyle Legendary Classic raised awareness for the work of the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation in the community and had a number of service men and women take part. It will become an annual event with the view to it becoming a major event for the City of Arlington. Daytona Beach, FL: Launchpad at Kennedy Space Center

Owner Dan Ferretti has a contract to maintain hydraulic assemblies at historic Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, FL. The 39A launchpad was first used during the Apollo program in the 1960s and ‘70s and now supports SpaceX launches. Dan’s contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing and, of course, launch operations.

Kent, WA: Coast Guard’s Healy icebreaker

The United States Coast Guard’s Healy icebreaker was in its Seattle port preparing for a trip to the Arctic. Part of that preparation was the replacement of 57 hoses and steel fittings by PIRTEK Kent, led by owner Gregory Shideler. The ship houses cranes and other machinery dependent on hydraulic power. The hose work was intense,

taking several months to complete, but was completed on time and the U.S. Coast Guard has been a regular customer for Kent for many years.

Harahan (Elmwood), LA: Marsh buggy

More than 40 percent of Southern Louisiana is considered wetlands, which means standard transportation is insufficient for traversing the water-saturated regions. That’s why a general contractor just outside New Orleans in Kenner uses a marsh buggy for remote jobs. PIRTEK Elmwood owner Carl Prince was summoned to fabricate a pair of 30-foot hoses for an onboard pump for the buggy. Carl considered the call uneventful, but uncommon nonetheless.

Cincinnati: Amusement park rides

Each winter when a local amusement park -- located in Mason, OH, about 25 miles northeast of Cincinnati -- reduces its hours for the offseason, PIRTEK Cincinnati owner Floyd Mays takes on the task of servicing the dozens upon dozens of rides. Depending on the needs, Floyd said the service requires about a day per ride at the 364-acre attraction, billed as the largest amusement and water park in the Midwest.

Esssington, PA: Cylinders on heavy-duty trailers

About 10 times a year, the team at PIRTEK South Philadelphia in Essington answer the call to rebuild large hydraulic cylinders on trailers used at The Navy Yard near the Delaware River. Operations manager Craig Johnson said the trailers are used to move heavy equipment. The cylinders, two- to four-feet in length, can take upward of three days each to complete the rebuild, Craig said.

Overland and Fenton, MO: Air-conditioning hoses for older cars

A particularly hot summer in Metro St. Louis drove in a different clientele to PIRTEK locations: Owners of older cars wanting air conditioning. Dave Penning, owner of PIRTEK Overland in the St. Louis suburb Olivette said many customers requested custom hoses for the air conditioning in their older cars, and some of them who were having A/C installed and needed custom hoses. Cars included a 1964 Corvair and a 1942 Ford pickup. PIRTEK Fenton, also in the St. Louis area, reported a fair number of cars coming into the center for air-conditioning hoses as well.

Elk Grove Village (O’Hare), IL: Hydraulic loading dock at music festival venue

Lollapalooza is an annual music festival that tours North America and was in setup mode for its Chicago stop when crew members noticed the loading dock to the stage had a hydraulic leak and wasn’t functioning. The company that was setting up the temporary stages, called PIRTEK O’Hare after

Denver (North Valley): Hydraulic hose while aboard a barge

PIRTEK North Valley owner Carl Jones chuckles as he recalls a service call that required a ride on a barge to complete. The floodgates on one of Denver’s reservoirs needed to be replaced. Attempting the task, a hydraulic hose broke on the winch that is used to access the gates 130 feet below surface. To reach the failed hose, a barge was enlisted to carry the PIRTEK truck and crew to the job site. The job was completed and everyone stayed high and dry for the most part.

Hose Replacement: Avoid Future Trouble by Doing it Right

Hydraulic hoses are tricky, so let the experts get your equipment back up and running.

Hydraulic equipment performs a tremendous amount of work in so many different industries. But all those cranes, bulldozers and other pieces of heavy machinery have a common vulnerability: They’re only as reliable as the hoses through which all that hydraulic fluid travels. A sudden rupture not only halts work abruptly, but can also cause a spill that endangers the surrounding environment. It can happen without warning.

When it does, have a fluid-transfer professional come out and replace the hose – the safest and most convenient way. The pro knows the ins and outs of hose replacement and has the right equipment to get the job done according to spec.

Keep it clean

One of your first considerations is to make cleanliness a top priority. The close tolerances in hydraulic valves, pumps and actuators make clean parts critical when fashioning a hose assembly. Contamination is always a danger during hose replacement. Even when the person doing the work is careful, fine particles can end up in the hydraulic fluid. The newer, the better

Your second consideration is the age of the hose stock. Be sure the hoses are of fairly recent vintage, not years old. If you want to know why, take a look at an old tire on someone’s car. Rubber dries out over time. When it does, cracking takes place and the material begins to deteriorate, losing much of its integrity.

Incidentally, an old hose can look perfectly OK on the outside while the inside is honeycombed with cracks. That’s because the inside and outside of the hoses are made of different materials. So, don’t trust visual inspections only. This is the perfect opportunity to use PIRTEK’s Preventative Maintenance program, have your local center stop in and do a professional check on all your equipment to maintain the integrity and durability of all hoses to keep your machines working in tip top shape.

Chaz Mostert and Steve Owen won the 2017 Pirtek Enduro Cup after finishing 7th in the final race of the Enduro Cup leg – Race 22 of the Vodafone Gold Coast 600. The Prodrive Racing Australia pair made a comeback win in Race 21, earning them top points to help them secure

the Pirtek Enduro Cup and marking them as the first ever Ford winners of the prestigious cup.

Mostert/Owen ended their Enduro Cup campaign 48 points clear of the closest competition, Fabian Coulthard and Tony D’Alberto of DJR Team Penske – who were strong contenders for the cup having held the leading position in the points table following the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000. The duo behind the #12 DJR Team Penske Falcon earned an honourable runners-up in the competition for the cup, despite finishing 9th in the final race. Cameron Waters and Richie Stanaway placed 3rd in the Pirtek Enduro Cup, making it a Prodrive one-three finish.

Mostert said: “When you get to go home on Sunday night at the end of Gold Coast and have that cup, you obviously know you’ve had a pretty consistent Enduro Cup campaign as a team, so it’s awesome to get that.”

Owen, an Enduro co-driver for Prodrive since 2013, mentioned that the trophy was a special reward for the hired guns of the three endurance


events: “For us it’s like the enduro drivers’ world championship, so it’s good,” he laughed. He continued, “It’s a long campaign even for three races because they’re three long races. It’s sometimes a bit of a tortoise and hare type of approach and I’m definitely the tortoise but I keep bringing it back. It’s good to have won the cup.”

In addition, our Pirtek-backed boys Scott McLaughlin and Alex Premat made an inspiring comeback win in Race 22 to round off the Enduro Cup competition on a high note.

For the fourth time in the 5-year history of the Pirtek Enduro Cup, there were four different race winning cars.

During the Friday night preceding the Bathurst 1000, the Pirtek-backed #12 Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford, of DJR Team Penske, claimed victory in an exciting intra-team Pirtek Pit Stop Challenge grand final.

Both DJR Team Penske entries were in the running for the winning position due to their efforts qualifying for the semi-finals, airing live on Fox Sports’ Pit Lane Live at Mount Panorama.

In the first semi-final, DJRTP’s car #12 dominated Nissan Motorsport’s car #23. Brad Jones Racing’s car #14 had previously been leading the points table following the Super Sprint rounds, which decided the finalists. However, a slow left-rear change meant they lost precious time to DJR Team Penske’s #17 in the second semi-final. A DJRTP double-entry in the finals made sure the DJR name would appear on the Golden Rattle Gun Trophy and the $25,000 cheque. Although the pit crew was split across both cars, DJRTP’s car #12 pulled ahead across the finish line to achieve a win in the grand final.

Talking to Speedcafe.com, a long-running partner of Pirtek, DJRTP’s managing director Ryan Story said (about the result) it was: “Sensational, it’s just a great night for the boys and they did a ripper job to get both of the cars not only into the top four and to be here tonight, but to win both heats and make it to the grand final’s very special.” He continued on to say: “It involved everyone and it’s just a great start to the weekend and we’ll press on.” Story concluded by mentioning that there were already plans for the $25,000 prize from Pirtek: “There’s plenty of pressure around from the troops to do something with it, so we’ll certainly go direct to the lads and we’ll do something special at the end of the year for sure.”
