OBITUARY

Mr. John Charles Allen Sr., son of the late Mr. Eugene

Allen and Mrs. Rozell Statom Allen, was born on July 10,

1941 in Elbert County, GA. The Lord called him home on

July 17, 2018.

Mr. John Charles Allen Sr. was a dedicated and studious

man who served as a role model to his children, as well as a

faithful, loving husband, who completely cherished his wife for

over 32 years. He worked in the granite industry as a machine

operator for 44 years, and at an early age, he joined Fortson

Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a faithful deacon

until his departure. John had a passion for fishing, gardening,

and in the family’s opinion he had the best barbeque worldwide.

Deacon John Charles Allen Sr. was preceded in death by

two sons, Stanley Eugene Allen and Kevin Leonard Allen, and

two grandsons, Rodrigues Antonio Allen and Rodricus Deonta

Allen.

Deacon John Charles Allen Sr. is survived by his wife, Imogene

Hughes Allen, his children, John Charles Jr. (Martha Allen), Gaydene

Allen King, Andrea (Randy) Rayton, Marvin Hughes, Tabitha

(Jaamal) Rambert, Spencer Bradford, and Kizswan Pressley; One

brother, Fred D. Allen, and one sister, Flossie Mae (Nathaniel) Booker;

12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grand-

child; one brother-in-law Thomas Hughes and one sister-in-

law Ellen Heard; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and

friends.

John Charles Allen Sr. was loved by all who knew him and

enjoyed his life to the fullest. We mourn the loss of an incredible

man, who was full of wisdom and guidance. Heaven rejoices in

a glorious celebration as he is welcomed home. “His Master replied,

‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with

a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and

share your master’s happiness!’ (Matthew 25:23)

POEM

A JOB WELL DONE

I cannot remember the number of times I have picked up my

phone and dialed your number and I also cannot remember a

time where you have not answered on the first ring! I sit back

sometimes and think about how privileged I was to have

someone so reliable and helpful with any situation. Whether

it was a major problem such as a flat tire, or a simple issue

like bringing me soup because I was sick. No matter the problem,

incident, situation, or occasion...You were there with a lending

hand. Webster's definition of wisdom is this: the quality of

having experience, knowledge, and good judgement. A wise

person has common sense and intelligence in nearly all areas

of life. A grandfather has the wisdom of long experience and

the love of an understanding heart. You brought warmth and

embrace and always placed a smile on my face. You've

shared many precious and humorous stories and I have

enjoyed listening to each and every one of them. Along with my

father, you have indeed shown me what to look for in a hus-

band. I have thanked God many times that he sent me a

grandfather like you. You were outspoken, nosey, and very

impatient at times; But you were also caring, giving, hard-

working, and you loved unconditionally. “A job well done”

are the words I know you will hear as you enter the gates of

Heaven.

Sincerely,

Miya
