2011 Spring/Summer Course Schedule June 13 th -17 th BASIC PRINCIPLES & ELEMENTS – 5 Day Basic Principals & Elements of Design An invaluable course for students that are new to the floral industry, florists wishing to reinforce design skills, techniques and best practices, and those florists pursuing state or national floral design certification, the 5 Day Basic Principals & Elements of Design Course offers extensive lectures and hands-on sessions to cover the following topics: floral supplies, tools equipment, ribbon types and bow techniques, taping & wiring, flower & foliage identification, care & handling essentials and best practices, design principals, elements & styles, color theory and application (line, form, mass, grouping, etc.). Instructors will provide students with a comprehensive overview of current floral design trends, techniques, and application as well as provide interactive hands-on sessions for Everyday, Holiday, Wedding, Wear and Carry, Special Events and Sympathy Design. August 1 st – 3 rd WEDDINGS – 3-Day Advanced Design Trends & TechniquesFloriology Institute’s Advanced Weddings Course will bring you the latest trends in Wedding Flowers, Design & Techniques. Students are provided important instruction on the most current use of color, latest floral varieties, products and supplies to meet the needs of today’s bride. Instructors will reinforce best practices, demonstrate new techniques and provide valuable time saving tricks to increase your profitability. Topics will be presented in both lecture and Hand-On classes for wedding flowers, body flowers, reception and event décor. As well as, provide critical skills for wedding consultations, rentals, and full service florist capabilities to allow you to build your wedding business. Students are expected to have basic Wedding Flowers experience. 20 Students per Class

August 21 st – 23 rd HOLIDAY- 3- Day Design Trends & Techniques At Floriology Institute, we bring to you this year’s Holiday Design trends and techniques to bring back to your shop just in time for the Holiday. Students are provided information on holiday color, style, products to make your shop the “Go to” for their Holiday needs. In addition, students will receive value instruction on retail store operations, business best practices, retail sales and customer service, selling & pricing for profit.
