Early LifeEdmund Hillary was born 0n 20th of July

1919 in Auckland. He went to Auckland

grammar school and then university of

Auckland. He had 3 brothers and sisters

called Peter, Sarah and Belinda and his father

was called Percival Augustus his mother was called Gertrude

Hillary.

First Job

Edmund Hillary’s first job was a beekeeper he also was Nz air force. He started being a beekeeper at 19.

The Ascent of Mount

Everest Hillary first climb was a climb to the top of the biggest mountain in the

world, the mountain I’m

talking about is mount Everest it’s 8,848m high.But he wouldn’t have done it without

the help of Tenzing Norgay,

his guide.

Now days heaps of people climb to the top of Mount Everest, since heaps of people do there are special ladders up also there are some ropes. Since the mountain is so high it’s very hard to breath so everyone has to wear a special suit.

1919-On the 20 of july in 1919 Edmund Hillary was born to Percival Augustus and Gertrude Hillary in Auckland

1932-Edmund Hillary left home to bee a beekeeper in 1932

1952-Edmund Hillary married Louise Mary Rose in 1952 after that they had some children

1953-He married June

*1955-He moved to Taukau in 1955

Edmund Hillary needed this oxygen

mask for the trip because he would have died without it. When

he got to about the middle he saw he only had 4 hours of oxygen left so he used is ice

axe to make cut steps straight up.Those steps

are still there now days.
