DEER The deer is the bigest rodent in Spain. It can weigh 200 kilos. It’s

brown, almost red. It can run very fast. It eats plants, grass, bushes,

mushrooms… It lives in the forest. The male has horns shaped

branches. Females and fawns haven’t got horns.

HARE The hare is middle size. It is brown but it has got

pale underparts. It has got very long ears. It eats

plants. It is a rodent. It runs very fast and it can

jump very long becauses its legs are strong and

long. It’s got a very short tail.

SQUIRREL Squirrel is small. It´s brown. It´s got a

long hairy tail. It lives in the pines. It

can jump up pines very well. It feeds

on pine nuts. It’s a rodent.

FOX The fox is an omnivorous. It is middle size. It

has got a long nose. It has got long brown hair

and a long tail. It eats rabbits, chicks, eggs, in-

sects, fruits… also waste. It lives in the forest

near the villages, so it can find food.

WILD BOAR (wild pig): The wild boar is very similar to a domestic pig.

It has got a long head and a long nose, called

snout. It´s got small black eyes. It’s got short

legs. It has got very hard short hair. It is an

omnivorous. It feeds: fruits (acorns, chest-

nuts, berries), tubers, roots, grains, worms,

insects, small mammals, snakes, mushrooms,

windfalls, snails, eggs and chicks of nesting

birds on the ground, etc.

OWLS The owl is a nocturnal bird of prey. It is middle size It has got two stiff

feathers on its head .They seem ears. It is grey, brown and white. It has

got orange or yellow eyes. It can turn its head almost 360 degrees. It

eats mice, lizards, insects, fish and other alive animals. There are dife-

rents types of owls:

TOED EAGLE The toed eagle is a big prey bird. It has got brown head and

back. It has got pale underparts. It has got yellow eyes, like

a barn owl. It has got big wings. It eats snakes It lives in

the open countryside.

COCKOO The cockoo is a small bird, about 30 cms. It has got grey back and

pale underparts. It has got long peak. It has got long tail. It eats in-

sects. It lays its eggs in an alien nest. It sings as its name says.

VIPER SNAKE

VIPER AND SNAKE The viper and snake are reptils. They haven’t got legs. They are long. A sna-

ke is longer than a viper. Snake is green and viper is brown or grey. Viper has

got triangular head and snake has got elongated head. They eat insects, mi-

ce, small rabbits or birds chickens… The viper is poisonous. The snake isn’t

poisonous.

LIZARD It’s long. It’s green. It has got very long tail. It eats insects. It loved staying at

sunshine.

TROUT The trout is a middle size greenish fish. It lives in the river. It’s got six flippers

and a tail. It eats worms, insects and crustaceans. Trout is a delicious food.
