In many cases the floor is the most stressed com -

ponent of modern facilities. Thereby the impact is as versatile

as the different industries are, e.g. pharmaceutical, nutrition,

energy, electronic or auto motive industry just to name some of

them. Often combinations of chemical, mechanical and thermal

load affect the floor in ranges that cannot be compensated by

cement based or concrete materials. Often additional require -

ments as conductivity, anti-skid, cleanability, fast-curing and

many more are necessary. This can only be realised by durable

industrial flooring systems which can guarantee a save and

cost-effective operation without interruptions.

exactly that is reflected in demanding flooring systems with both

Project information: The architectural concept of thiscondominium is to allow the entryby an open access balcony. This whether exposed area and thestairways have been designed in aunique colour concept to distin-guish different access levels andthe habitations. After some badexperience with yellowing materi-als MC-DUR 2095 F was applieddue to its material qualities.

Project information: This small beauty institute wasplanned to be a place to relax andto recover. For that reason thedesign of the whole beauty instituteshould be extraordinary includingthe floor. So first there was applieda special polyurethane resin as abase layer. After that the wholearea was covered with a thick layerof a new and innovative MC-DUR1204. This material is transparent,absolutely UV-resistant and veryscratch resistant. With this systembuilt-up walking over the floor cre-ates a feeling of floating over it. In the rest rooms a stone carpetwas applied with white gravel andMC-DUR 1204 as a binder material.

The integratedmetal strips symbolise the degreesof longitude and latitude.

Project information: A comprehensive architecturalconcept was done for this interest-ing building in the centre ofBrussels near the palace. Beside alight and illumination concept anda glass door with a print of the cityplan of Brussels also a specialflooring system should contributeto the overall impression. MC-DUR Terrazzo was chosen as ahighlight for this area. The applica-tion was a challenge due to thenarrowness of some parts of thearea which did not allow the use ofbigger grinding machines.Together with the very experiencedapplicator a detailed grinding andpolishing procedure was success-fully developed to the satisfactionof the owner.

Project information: During the refurbishment of awaste water plant of the Flemishdrinking water supplier a parallelrefurbishment of the administra-tion building was discussed. The project was realised with MC-DUR SL in a record-breakingtime of 6 hours for the 600m2 of 2 mm top coat including a highlyaesthetical surface. The customerwas delighted about fast return tobusiness and the jointless, niceoptical impression, including totalUV-stability and an extraordinaryeasy to clean surface of MC-DUR 2095 M.

Project information: Case is one of the biggest produc-ers of agricultural equipment. For a huge 32,000 m2 storehouse a mechanical durable flooring sys-tem was necessary. According tobrazilian standards a 3 mm epoxymortar was applied by power floating first. Finally a wear and tear resistanttop coat of MC-DUR 1212 VB wasapplied.

Project information: The object is a new facility, madeof steel with a concrete under -ground. The investor is producingcontrol units for cars which alwayscontain many sensitive electronicaldevices and microchips. To guarantee their technical func-tionality a very high, controlledand reliable conductivity is abso -lutely necessary so that high-techMC-DUR 1850 ESD was applicated.It guarantees a safe conductivity of106 ohm, a loading less than 100 Vin the so called walking test andmeets the requirements of furthertests even at a very low relativehumidity.

Project information: After 35 years of use the concreteof the waste water treatment basinwas totally damaged and contami-nated with oil residues. A refurbishment of the structurehad been possible only with majorefforts and costs so it was decidedto apply a MC-FLEX coating ongeotextile. The geotextile is fixedby rivets into the existing concretestructure. After that MC-FLEX isapplied by spraying in verticalareas and horizontal areas. Many engineered details were necessary for this structure whichwere delivered as service by MC,e.g. the use of a special high-techwater-repellent sand for best bond-ing properties of the coating, or a special drainage system forintruded ground water behind thegeotextile.

Project information: The loading stressing the floor is a combination of frequent wheelloadings by forklifts and pallettrucks, occasional impact by fallingdown hose fitting and hand toolsand thermal loading by the clean-ing process. The cleaning is per-formed by hot water jetting withrotating nozzles to remove allresidues of the production process.Due to the fact that some of theintermediates as well as the finalproducts have a low flame pointthe screed system has to provideanti-static properties in order toprotect against static discharges asa source of ignition in an explosiveatmosphere.

Project information: Many buildings of the new uni -versities rapidly established inGermany during the seventieshave to be refurbished today dueto heavy damages of the concretestructures. One of them is theMSCP of the university ofWuppertal. The concrete of allthree major MSCPs shall be long-term protected against water andsalt penetration. Despite existingmandatory systems demanded byregulations the owner decided toapply a several millimeter thickepoxy screed including a blackaggregate strewing and transpar-ent top sealer for best wear andtear resistance properties.

Project information: The well known industrial designphotographer Anke Mllerkleinrealised this showroom inHamburg for the purpose of pre-sentations, exhibition and gallery.Every detail was planned and exe-cuted with a maximum accuracy tocreate an overall architectural con-cept including Feng-Shui for thewhole area. Accordingly therequirements for the flooring systems had been very high. Project information: Most of the media coveringBavaria is situated in the mediahouse in the city of Munich nearthe main station. In 2008 a com-mon party- and event location wasplanned on a 550 m2 basementarea. The site was under time pres-sure and a very aesthetic floor wasdemanded, therefore MC-DUR SLwas applied. The flooring with a nicely textured,structured and mat surface impres-sion was applied in just one day. A special technology with a modi-fied matting agent was realised inthe catering area to guarantee anti-skid properties. In connection withan overall concept including astage best requirements for suc-cessful parties have been realised.

Project information: The goal was to improve the floor-ing at this deep-freeze cold store ofREWE Deutscher Super marktKGaA in Stelle to ensure safetyduring operations. Different gapsand holes in the mineral screedhave been fixed after a refurbish-ment of the structure. MC-DUR 3500 KH is the ideal solu-tion, it was designed to react andharden under deep-freeze coldstore conditions of -18 to -28 C.Smooth surfaces after repair workswith MC-DUR 3500 KH also extendthe life-time of transport vehiclesstrongly. In addition the materialhas a neutral odour and does notcontaminate food by release ofcritical acrylic substances.

Project information: Kaufland as one of the biggestsupermarket company operateshuge deep-freeze areas both inproduction and distribution. For that they have to face thesame problems that occur in near-ly all deep-freeze cold stores dueto their special structure and oper-ation conditions: Cracks in thescreed or concrete substrate, dam-aged joints, gateways due to thevery cold temperatures in combi-nation with very heavy traffic. Here the first major deep-freezecold store coating was applied at -26 C to ensure safe and easytransport. Moreover many smallerrepair spots have been fixed andthick layer epoxy coating systemslevelled out major imperfectionsduring construction under ambienttemperatures.

Project information: Uninterrupted and safe operationof this maintenance station wasachieved during refurbishmentincluding the substrate coating.Especially oils, greases, gas andpetrol contaminated the substrateand damaged the screed structure.The new liquid tight coating pro-tects the substrate from ingress ofcritical materials, looks much bet-ter than the dirty screed and ismuch easier to clean. Theseaspects also have been perceivedby the customers, so moreover itwas a nice marketing action.

Project information: FAAC as an international manufac-turer of door and gate drives andrelocated its production in Dublinto a new facility. For that theirdemand was an ESD-compatibleflooring system that complies withESD standards for use in electroniccomponent environment. Further aspects have been a highmechanical resistance, high chemi-cal durability and what is extra -ordinary a white colour! MC-DUR 1850 ESD was applied asa thick layer system in areas withthe mentioned heavy impact andMC-DUR 2095 ESD as a thin layersystem for areas with less impact,including excellent cleaning prop-erties and UV stability. The whitecolour is very challenging forthose systems due to the use of(black!) carbon fibres to achievethe conductivity.

Project information: In 2011 the ice-hockey world-championship will take place inSlovakia. For that many citiesupgrade their infrastructure. In Kosice the hotel Yasmin wascompletely restructured to show anew and modern style to the sup-porters in 2011. Extraordinaryefforts have been made to presenta unique architectural masterpiecein the entrance area. Coarse gravelattached to a fleece material wasimported from China and appliedon the floor. The gaps were filledwith coloured resin and the wholearea was grinded in different stepsto a polished, smooth surfaceshowing an existing surface struc-ture. To protect the floor a thicktransparent sealer was appliedwith high scratch resistance and UV stability.
