*OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY

After the huge flood events brought about so many typhoons, respectively, that

caused severe damage in Mandaluyong and surrounding areas, It is provided that we

take a step to make a solution to flooding in the said area.

A flood risk assessment study for the entire Mandaluyong city and surrounding

basin area was undertaken from August 201 to !ctober 201, to prepare a

comprehensive flood risk management plan for the same and to determine a set of

priority structural measures, which will still undergo individual feasibility studies anddetailed design prior to implementation, including nonstructural measures that will

provide sustainable flood management up to a designated safety level and serve as the

roadmap"vision of the government until 20# $20 years from now%.

PROFILE OF THE STUDY AREA

&he study area covers the entire Mandaluyong 'ity with a total area of 21.2(km2 or ).21 s* mi, which is comprised of 2+ barangays 1- in istrict I and 1# in istrictII. &he study area has an estimated total population of 2+),-+-, accounting for about2.)/ of the total population of the ational 'apital egion which is ,#2,(0. 3ith anaverage household si4e of -.(, it has a household population of 2+,110 which may alsobe considered as the nighttime population of the city.
