Teachers are given informational items to read and view in advance. By flipping the meeting, formerly leader-driven meetings transform into distributed, leadership meetings. Time is spent more creatively, with teachers taking a more active role.
WHAT IS A FLIPPED MEETING?
Why are you flipping your meeting?
How much info do you give them before the meeting? If you record yourself, how long is “too” long?
What tools are you going to use to flip?
Who will benefit from the experience?
What topics need to be discussed?What outcomes do you want?
THINGS TO CONSIDER WHEN FLIPPING
Decide what information can be given to teachers ahead of time and what format. Make them accountable for it.
Use the faculty meeting to discuss those issues and get input from teachers or use it for professional development time.
Use professional learning protocols.Get feedback and revise and update for future meetings.

• Explain the concept and purpose to teachers in advance• Foster teacher by-in• Communicate the timeline and process early• Survey teacher needs
During
• Establish protocols upfront• If you are encouraging teacher sharing or modeling, offer support,
guidelines and examples• Help teachers with technology skills• Simplify the technology. Take advantage of easy to use tools• Be consistent with methods used for strategies, tools and sharing.• Focus on making time relevant and worthwhile. Remember the basics of
adult learning styles

• Ask: Did the meeting achieve the planned outcomes?• Get feedback on the meeting. Revise and update accordingly for future meetings
