You will Need:
Directions for Assembling a Fiip Chute
• orange juice or milk carton• decorative duct tape• scissors• templates printed on cardstock• printed picture cards single-sided to double sided• Optional: Exacto knife• Hot glue gun to adhere dog and dish
Cut two opposite side flaps from the top of the
container.
Step 1:
Fold over and tape.
Step 2:: Step 3:Cover the top with duct
tape.
Place templates on the container as shown and cut.
Step 4: Step 5:Fold edges of the outside slider.
Tape to upper edge of top square and lower edge of bottom
square as shown.
Step 6:Fold edges of the inside slider. Tape to lower edge of the upper square and the upper edge of the lower square as shown.
Step 7: Cover the front and the sides of the container with duct tape.
Step 8: If purchased the Long/Short Vowel Bundle, adhere the templates on the container with a hot glue gun.
If using with Long/Short Vowel cards: Place cards on the table picture-side up. Students take turns choosing a card, naming the picture and saying if the vowel sound is long or short. The card is then placed in the top slot and the correct answer falls within the dish.

A Flip Chute can be used for practicing many skills. To create the cards, simply cut cardstock (or you can use index cards) in 2 inch squares. Place
the question on one side and the anwer on the other.
Students simply answer the question, place the card in the top slot and the answer comes out the bottom. For example, if this activity is used for short/long vowels, the student names the picture (e.g. bat), decides if the vowel is long or short and places the picture in the top slot. The correct answer comes out on the bottom!
