February 20 -‐ 28: Nainital-‐Almora-‐Delhi Return for the night to Delhi to catch first-‐class train/taxi the next morning to the beautiful Himalayan Aurobindo Ashram outside of Nainital (lake shaped as an eye) area. Enjoy single rooms in a climate of 50 – 80 degrees. Here, we will take darshan (blessing) in two important temples. In Almora, Ksar Devi, a form of Durga, who does not allow negative tendencies to rule within the doorway to our heart chakra. Kasar Devi first became known when, in the 1890s, Swami Vivekananda visited and meditated, and has mentioned his experience in his diaries.
In the 1930s, Danish mystic Sunyata Baba (Alfred Sorensen) lived here for over three decades. Mystic-‐saint Anandamayi Ma also visited Kasar Devi. Famed writer D. H. Lawrence spent two summers here. The temple dates back to the 2nd century CE. It has been found to be of special importance, as the region around this temple has enormous geomagnetic field, because this temple comes under the Van Allen Belt. The causes behind the formation of this belt have been researched by NASA for the last two years. People who have meditated at Kasar Devi including our Sri Shyamji (who made a documentary ”DARSHAN” there) have expressed a degree of higher rejuvenation and have attached special importance to it. February 24: Almora Enjoy a one-‐night stay in Almora, known as the temple town. It has over 124 temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. We will visit the very famous Jageshwara Temple, (dating 9th to 13th century AD). Situated at an elevation of 1,870 meters above the sea level, this temple is believed to host the Nagesh Jyotir linga, one of the twelve in India where the great God Shiva appeared as a fiery column of light.
