Flextray can support more cable than other wire-mesh tray makersPRODUCTCOMPARISON
After extensive comparison against some
other brands, Flextray’s robust, thicker
gauge construction beats its competitors’
loading capabilities. Look at the results.
Tests were perfomed per NEMA VE.1
standards. Comparisons were made
from competitors’ published load tables
as of Dec. 2005. GS Metals is not
responsible for competitors’ published
load tables and/or manufacturing changes
to these wire tray makes. Thomas and Belts,
B-Line, and Cablofil are trade names and/or
trademarks of their respected owners.

** Clear Span of Support: Load — lbs per foot. Published load chart has not been tested with Flexmate. Please consult the factory for load information when using the Flexmate splice option. GS Metals recommends that splice/supports comply with NEMA VE-2 installation requirements. *** Fill Rates: Cables used for fill rate testing are 0.1852” in diameter. Flextray fill capacity is based on NEC allowable fill of 50%. This rule requires that the cable cross-sectional areas together may not exceed 50% of the tray area (width x depth = fill). Fill capacities stated are based on typical Category 5 diam-eters (0.1852” dia.) in real-world tray installations. Cables will nearly completely fill the cable tray when reaching the 50% cable fill (see illustration below). When the tray is full, the total of the cable area is only 50% of the tray; this is due to empty space between the surface of the cable. TIA recommends 40% fill ratio. Flextray loads, as shown in the chart, will not be exceeded before fill capacity — see illustration.

FAST ASSEMBLY

FITTING SPLICE
UL CLASSIFIED
NO NUTS/ BOLTS
NEEDEDPART
Flextray splice recommendations have been engineered and tested to hold published
tray loads. Do not risk installation failures or problems with other manufacturers’
suggestions to use fewer splice connections. Flextray’s loads hold what we publish.
Flextray splice systems are UL Classified.
Flextray offers the widest variety of splice methods to safely and efficiently connect tray sections and fasten fittings
UL grounding requirements are based on cross-sectional areas.
When wire is removed, such as when horizontal or vertical fittings
are created by cutting and removing wires from the tray, this area is
affected. Separate grounding methods must therefore be used.
