◆◆ Flash Flood Watch: Heavy rains may cause flashflooding in your area. If a FlashFlood Watch is issued, beprepared for heavy rains andflooding.
◆◆ Flash Flood Warning: Flooding is occurring or willdevelop quickly. If a Flash FloodWarning is issued for your area,take shelter and/or move to highground as necessary.
◆◆ Flood Advisory: Nuisance flooding is occurringor imminent. A Flood Advisorymay be upgraded to a FlashFlood Warning if floodingworsens and poses a threat tolife and property.

FLASH FLOOD PREPAREDNESS
◆◆ Learn the best routes to highground where you live, work,play, and travel should you needto evacuate.
◆◆ If your area is prone to flooding,keep emergency materials onhand such as sandbags, wood,and plastic sheeting.
◆◆ Do not allow children to playnear streams or drainage ditches.These areas can quickly becomedeadly.
◆◆ If your vehicle stalls in a floodedarea, get out as soon as possible.Floodwaters can rise rapidly andsweep away a vehicle and itsoccupants.
◆◆ DO NOT attempt to drive ormove your vehicle throughflooded areas because parts ofthe road may already be washedout or the water much deeperthan it appears. Turn around, don’t drown!
◆◆ When hiking, use extremecaution anytime heavy rainsthreaten, even if the rainfall is farupstream. A stream can floodwithin minutes. Do not crossstreams until the flash floodingcompletely subsides.
◆◆ If there is an emergency, call9-1-1 immediately!
