I serve on the boards of a number of businesses and trusts. Past President of Auckland Rotary. I am a chartered member of NZ Institute of Directors. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE 2017/18 GENERAL COMMITTEE TERM: Joining the RNZYS General Committee gives me the opportunity to give back to the Club and contribute to making RNZYS the best it can be. SUMMARY OF SAILING AND BOATING EXPERIENCE: Sailed dinghies as a teenager, followed by keel-boat cruising and racing and I now own a classic launch. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE INCLUDING BUSINESS BACKGROUND: Owner/ Director of an engineering consultancy with 25 employees. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE 2017/18 GENERAL COMMITTEE TERM: I have enjoyed making a positive contribution to the continuing improvements that the Squadron is making. The America’s Cup will give us the chance to build on this and continue to grow the health of the Squadron and the benefits that we can offer our Members. Working on the future plans for the Squadron facilities at Kawau has been particularly satisfying, and we are now in the position to take this to the next stage. Getting a positive outcome from all of the planning will be one of my key areas to focus on for the next year. I have started on the Committee that is planning the 150th celebrations, and for 2021 we also have lots of ideas and next year we need to start making them happen. The next 4 years will be an exciting time for the Squadron and I look forward to making my contribution.

SUMMARY OF SAILING AND BOATING EXPERIENCE: I have enjoyed a lifetime of boating, cruising and racing in dinghies/keelboats locally and offshore. I represented New Zealand at Women’s World Regattas in Lasers and J24s. Earlier this year, I raced with my husband in the Weta class at the World’s Masters Games – silver medallist. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE INCLUDING BUSINESS BACKGROUND: After 40 years fulltime work specialising in general practice nursing, I now work on a part-time basis, and am Director of the Gulfwind Sailing Academy. Since joining the General Committee last year I have learned a great deal about the workings and management of the RNZYS, and the wonderful contribution the volunteers make to our Club. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE 2017/18 GENERAL COMMITTEE TERM: I continue to be excited by the direction of the current Flag Officers and General Committee. After many years of participation, I would like to continue to contribute while learning from others. I am a proud Grandmother and see great value to the Membership in supporting and promoting family participation. I would like to see young people value their Membership, as important friendships and contacts are formed to enable networking with a variety of people they otherwise may not have met. While respecting and valuing the rich history, I endorse the diversification of the RNZYS to advance the Club forward as we enjoy our lifetime sport. I honour the privilege of having the America’s Cup “in our cabinet” and look forward to maximising the opportunities we now have as custodians to promote the RNZYS.

I own the launch “Affinity”, the yacht “Boogie Flash” which I race, and have an interest in the classic “Rawhiti”. RELEVANT EXPERIENCE INCLUDING BUSINESS BACKGROUND: I have a commercial background of 37 years. I established my company as an importer in the mid-80s and progressed into specialised printing. I am now involved in property and have consulting roles. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE 2017/18 GENERAL TERM: I have enjoyed making a positive contribution and have developed a far greater
appreciation of the Squadron’s requirements. I would like to continue my support and
to work on the projects we are committed to. I am proud of the Squadron’s tradition
and the values it holds as we head to our 150th year reunion. I am dedicated to our
growth of new Members along with supporting the next generation to be involved.
The combination of my time and background in both boating and business allows me

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE INCLUDING BUSINESS BACKGROUND: Currently General Counsel Corporate and Commercial at Fletcher Building Limited and responsible for legal requirements for all building products and distribution businesses within NZ. Previous legal experience in insurance and in private practice (Bell Gully), as well as legal advisor for the 2007 America’s Cup. GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE 2017/18 GENERAL COMMITTEE TERM: I am primarily interested in creating an environment where people can enjoy yachting and boating in a social and competitive way. Particular interests are family boating and youth sailing. Our facilities and events should maximise opportunities for Members to meet one another, form friendships and go boating. I strongly support increased development and use of our Kawau property. The America’s Cup and 150th year celebrations are opportunities to provide real value to Members, collegiality and fun. Membership at the RNZYS is something to be very proud of. We must continue to invest in youthj sailing for the health of our Club. We should continue to support and celebrate those who graduate into international competitive yachting and celebrate their achievements. It is a busy and exciting time for the Club.
