• A complete line of modular panels and boxes, developed for cabinet, rackand wall mounting.
• Fully adaptable for large or small main distribution frame (MDF),intermediate distribution frame (IDF) or telephone closet (TC) applications.
• Designed for 19" (48.26 cm) EIA rack or cabinet environment found inmany enterprise networks; optional brackets are available to accommodate23" (58.42 cm) or ETSI rack or cabinet mounting.
• Provides termination, splicing and storage capabilities for in-building cables, outside plant cables and fiber optic terminal (FOT) equipment patch cords.
• Modular design offers maximum flexibility to satisfy both current needsand future growth requirements.
• A full line of options and accessories ensures compatibility with existing optical equipment.
• FL2000 systems accommodate the Value-Added plug-in modules, addingflexibility and functionality to the optical transport systems. Splitters, wavelength division multiplexers (WDMs) and other optical componentscan be easily incorporated.
• All FL2000 panels and boxes accommodate the modular FL2000 6pakplug-ins. 6paks are available in all connector styles and can be ordered as needed.
• ADC‘s patented removable angled retainers allow easy access for single fiber maintenance.
• FL2000 panels and boxes feature superior vertical cable protection andmanagement.
• Rack mount panels are hinged on one side, allowing full access to the rearof the front plate and the interior of the panel.
• Rack mount panels are equipped with mounting brackets to provide 5"(12.7 cm) recess mounting; mounting brackets are available for virtually anymounting application.
• Rack mount panels can be wall mounted.
• The new FL2000 splice wheel allows easy roll-up of pigtail and buffer tube lengths and superior bend radius protection.
• The FL2000 splice deck is available to complete existing installations.

FL2000 System Applications
In an interconnect network, all outside plant (OSP) fibers are terminated at the back of the connectormodule and all equipment patch cords are connected at the front. Interconnect installations are mostcommonly found in small, price-sensitive and low-reconfiguration applications.

Interconnect Configuration
In a cross-connect network, all OSP fibers and equipment terminations are terminated on the back ofthe connector module. Patch cords are used at the front of the connector module to cross-connect OSPfiber to the FOT equipment. The convenience and flexibility of the cross-connect system make it anattractive method for managing your fiber plant. Cross-connect is the preferred installation for maximumflexibility, simplified growth and cutovers, and protection of permanent connections.

Transmit Path
Video signal via coaxial cable from video modulators.
ADC Homeworx™ transmit panel converts coax electrical video signal to optical signal on fiber. Transmitter sends optical signal out.
Optical signal sent to the splitters via a fiber optic patch cord or pigtail. Splitters installed in FL2000 Value-Added Module (VAM).
Splitter receives optical signal from transmitter and splits signal into several out paths (1x2, 1x3, etc.). Each out path serves one node.
Optical video signal from outputs of splitters routed to the FL2000 termination connector module via fiber patch cord.
Intrafacility fiber cable (IFC) clamped and connected to rear of fiber patch panel.
IFC clamped to Fiber Entrance Cabinet (FEC).
IFC fibers spliced to outside plant (OSP) fibers on FEC splice drawer.
OSP cable clamped to FEC.
Return Path
Video signal from each node is jumpered from FL2000 termination panel to VAM chassis.
6pak bulkhead on VAM connects fiber OSP patch cord to patch cord from upstream receiver.
Fiber patch cord from VAM connects upstream signal to ADC Homeworx receive panel. The receive panel converts optical video signal to electrical and sends to network/ set-top control system via coaxial cable.

The intermediate distribution frame (IDF) area is the point of interconnection between building backbonecables and horizontal tie cable serving telephone closets or station wire serving the individual work locations.
IDFs usually serve a single floor and are typically arranged vertically in a building riser area. Electronic hubequipment is normally installed within the IDF area because of the proximity to the backbone cabling. Inmany cases, the IDF is the last connection point prior to the end workstation connection. In large buildings, IDFs may serve multiple telephone closets (TCs) via tie cables.

Fiber Connector/Adapter Cleaning Kit
The fiber connector/adapter cleaning kit containsall the items required to adequately clean fiber connectors and adapters. The performance of anoptical fiber system is largely dependent on thefiber connector cleaning procedures followed priorto installation. It is suggested that all the connec-tors and adapters be cleaned before making anyconnections. This kit contains an instruction sheet,lint-free wipes, isopropyl alcohol, cotton swabs,lint-free pipe cleaners and oil-free compressed air.The kit cleans approximately 500 connectorsand/or adapters.
