    it is an fixed restoration, usually in the

    form of crown, which is cemented to the

    prepared abutment tooth, to providestabilization for the Fixed partial denture

    both terminals.

    - Primary abutment: that provides the bridge

    with prime means of support.

    - Secondary abutment: that supports the primary

    abutment in addition to that provides the

    support to the bridge.

    - Pier abutment: is an isolated or intermediate

    abutment where the anterior and posterior

    adjacent teeth to it are missing.

    - Distal abutment:that is situated distal to the

    edentulous area or the last abutment distally.
