Fly fishing• Fly fishing is about using a long flexible rod to flick a

tiny fly(lure made from feathers) behind heavy fly line.• There is salt water and fresh water fly fishing but most

people use it to catch salmonoids like trout and salmon.

Lure fishing • Lure fishing is about using some thing that

looks and sometimes smells or sounds like something a fish mite eat

• There are lots of types of lures e.g. minnows, surface poppers, stick baits, deep divers and lots of others

Bait fishing

• Bait fishing is using real things that fish eat like worms, bait fish, crabs, prawns and lots of others

• You can use a float, sinker or leave it unweighted when bait fishing

Spear fishing

• Spear fishing is using a spear gun or handheld spear to stab fish and pull it out of the water

• Spear fishing is not very popular and is banned in most places

Fishing gear

• Some examples of fishing gear include fishing rod, reel, hooks, line, sinkers, floats and lures

• For spear fishing you need to have a spear, flippers, wetsuit and a mesh bag
