th! As you will be able to read in an-

I recently came across the following and thought it was too good not to share. “How to Pray for the Teacher(s) in a Child’s Life”

Pray for the teacher as he/she looks at his/her summer to do list. They might not have had a vacation or success in taking care of their own needs. Pray for the teacher as he/she needs to be refreshed and healthy; her/his summer may have included loss, grief, disappointment, or hardship. Pray for the teacher as she/he has concerns about how their relationships will change with the school year starting: concerns about daycare, marriage, family, or parents. Pray for the teacher as he/she gets his/her classroom ready; they may have to move rooms, may not have supplies yet, or might have other issues to address. Pray for the teacher as she/he attends staff development and meetings; they may have requirements to meet or assignments to finish. Pray for the teacher as she/he reconnects with fellow staff and faculty; some working relationships might be challenging. Pray for the teacher as he/she sorts through curriculum; a change in grade level, publisher, or requirements can be difficult. Pray for the teacher as she/he begins to do her/his planning; teachers have so much to pack in, and the unexpected situation is an expected reality. Pray for the teacher as she/he receives information about his/her students; your child’s teacher needs openness, wisdom and compassion. Pray for the teacher as he/she meets a whole new group of parents; parent rela-tionships are crucial to the success of students and teachers.

(Anonymous) I’m sure each of you, as well as our teachers (retired or active) could add more to this list, but it is a start. So, throughout the school year continue to make our school personnel a high priority on your prayer list.

We are ready to begin a new Disciple Bible Study this month for those who might be interested. Disciple IV has been chosen and it is a 32-week study of the following books of the Old Testament: Ruth, 1 & 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther and Daniel…and these books of the New Testament: The Gospel of John, the Epistles of John, James and Jude then finally Reve-lation. We will need to begin on August 11th to be finished by mid-December with the Old Testament portion. If you are interested either contact Mark or put your name down on the sign-up sheet on the Welcome Table. For those of you who did not take the first Disciple course that was offered, please allow us to you a break-down of the commitment involved. There will be daily readings from one of the books mentioned above which may take about 30 minutes per day. On the last day of the week, there is work to do in a study manual in preparation for the weekly meeting which should take about 30 to 45 min-utes. Finally, there will be a 2 hour “classroom” time each week. Disciple is not for the faint of heart but the benefits to an individual’s faith develop-ment is amazing. The study manuals are $35.00 which is the only cost for the class. Hope you will consider joining us. It will be well worth your time and energy!!!

We need church members to help cook, deliver and hand out the meals to the participants of the bi-monthly free clinic. A group of folks got together and planned the meals until October, so all you have to do is show up and cook. We have planned Hot Dogs (with all the fixin’s) and Baked Beans on August 1st then Chicken Spaghetti and Green Beans on August 15th. Please help if you can! This is a wonderful and needed ministry.

Seminole Schools begin Friday, August 9th! We will once again have a Blessing of the Backpacks and a time of prayer for our school personnel. We have set aside Sunday, August 11th where these two events will be a part of the worship

service. Bring your kids, grandkids, neighborhood kids plus invite any teacher or other school personnel to join you on that day and be here as we begin the school year in the only appropriate way…with a time of prayer.

District Set-Up Meeting

On Saturday, September 7th, clergy and laity of the Heartland District will gather at St. Andrew’s UMC in Oklahoma City for a day of learning and information. We will need several officers from our congregation to attend: SPRC chair or other members; Treasurer, Finance Chair or other committee member; Lay Leader and Lay Delegate to Annual Conference. Registration begins at 9:30am, so if you want to ride in the van, we will need to leave the church by 8:15am. Please let Mark or Donna know if you are planning to attend.

We are planning on heading to the Bricktown Ball Park on August 30th to watch a baseball game be-

tween the OKC Dodgers and the New Orleans Baby Cakes. The game begins at 7:05 so the church van will leave at 5:30pm if you wish to ride with us! It’s going to be a great night with lots of great memories to be made.

Finance Committee Meeting The Finance Committee will meet on Monday, August 19th at 6:15pm in the Conference Room. Members are urged to be present.
