Hey FUMC Family.
For this week’s Elevate Top 5, I want to tell you
the top 5 things we have going on this summer!
Here goes!
1) AMped is our Sunday morning environment for
youth. It
happens
during the Sunday School hour in
the youth room. We’ll have break-
fast each week, play some games,
and hear from a different member
of our congregation each week as
they share their Epic Story!
2) 12:12 is our midweek Bible
Study. We meet at, you guessed it,
12:12 in the youth room. It’s a Bring-Your-Own-Lunch Bible Study. We’ll
be talking about GOD’S Epic Story. Our
first 12:12 will be June 6!
3) Our Atlanta Mission Trip is June 17-
21. We’ll spend the week serving pre-
dominantly the population of folks ex-
periencing homelessness in Atlanta. We
always have a blast on our mission trips.
There’s just something about getting
away and serving together that’s magi-
cal. In Atlanta we’ll LIVE God’s Epic
Story! Sign up now at
www.fumceufaula.org/register.
4) 2nd Mile Mission Week is a mission
trip that happens right here in Eufaula!
It’s designed for our younger middle
schoolers to learn what it’s like to be
on a mission trip with us! We serve
locally, stay at the church, and have
some fun together while being led by
our high school students. You can sign
up now at www.fumceufaula.org/register.
5) Summer Sundays are different than Elevate during the school year.
Sundays in the summer are all outreach minded. We use the term front
porch events. Our Sundays this summer are designed for our students to
invite their friends! We have events planned like the Luau, Hootenanny,
KWAR, and a scavenger hunt around town.
Summer really is my favorite time to be involved with youth ministry! I
can’t wait to see what all this summer holds.
God looks good on you—
Britt

I want to begin my article this week by quoting the song, “How Can I Keep From Singing.”
“My life goes on in endless song above earth’s lamentations. I hear the real, though far-off
hymn that hails a new creation. Through all the tumult and the strife I hear it’s music
ringing. It sounds an echo in my soul. How can I keep from singing? While though the
tempest loudly roars, I hear the truth, it liveth. And though the darkness ‘round me close,
songs in the night it giveth. No storm can shake my inmost calm, while to that rock I’m
clinging. Since God is Lord of heaven and earth how can I keep from singing? When tyrants
tremble sick with fear and hear their death knell ringing, when friends rejoice both far and
near how can I keep from singing? No storm can shake my inmost calm, while to that rock
I’m clinging. Since God is Lord of heaven and earth how can I keep from singing?”
I felt moved to include these words in my article this week for what most of you see as obvious reasons. We have
had so many shocking occurrences happening in the last couple of weeks both worldwide, nationally, and right here
in Eufaula that we may for the moment lose sight of the fact that God is with us. If we can only tap in to that
“inmost calm” and remember that God never leaves us, we can find the strength that we need.
God reminds us daily of his presence if we are simply open to his reminders. From the birth of a child to the new
growth of springtime. From the joy on the face of a high school graduate to the hug from a friend. And this is just
the beginning of the list. May we remember the words of Psalm 46: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-
present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and mountains fall into the heart of
the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose
streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells….He says, ‘be still and know that I
am God…”
Be still and know. Calm down and realize. Take a deep breath and embrace the fact. Stop your frantic worrying
and be at peace because God is always there. He knows your greatest joys and your worst heartache. Lean on
him. Rejoice in him. Be inspired by him.
I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday. God bless, Billy
