I am so excited to be a part of your church family. Most of you have heard by now that I will be the new Music Director. Some of you know me and some of you do not. I thought I would take this time to tell you a little about myself. I have been happily married to my husband Stacy for 19 years. We have three daughter’s Jessica, Madeline, and Maggie. We also have two beautiful grandchildren, Jason and Elizabeth. My MeMa has been a long time member of the church, and I used to sit with her (Myrtle Walthall) and Ion Newton on Sunday mornings. Those are cherished memories for me, and part of the reason I am so glad to be back. MeMa is in the nursing home now, but she would be so excited to know I am leading the music here. I will also be working for Teague I.S.D. this year at the alternative school. We will begin Choir Practice the first Wednesday of this month. If you have been in the choir I invite you to join me, and if you haven’t been in the choir I also invite you to join us. If you sing in church, the car, or the shower you will be more than qualified to join us!! Music is one of the greatest ways to Praise the Lord, and I hope you will consider joining us on Wednesday nights.

Hand Bells will also be starting up this month. I have played in the choir before, but I have never actually directed so I can’t wait to get started with this new endeavor!! I hope those of you that have been coming will join me!

Once again this year Angel Sims has graciously volunteered to lead the Children’s Choir. Children’s Choir is very near and dear to my heart. It is where the foundation for worshipping through song begins. I hope that you will consider bringing your children and grandchildren to participate. I am of course excited to be working with Angel, as she was a former band student of mine! She is very talented and does a fantastic job!

I want to thank you once again for this opportunity, and I look forward to meeting each of you! God Bless,

Mykle Ann

A.W.E. Ministry Kicks Off September 2

First UMC is gearing up again for its Wednesday Night A.W.E. program. September 2, will be our first day back. We are all looking forward to more of the deliciously prepared meals that our church has come to enjoy. As always, A.W.E. will begin each Wednesday evening at 6:00pm in the Fellowship Hall. If you have been thinking about inviting someone to church, who may not have a church family, A.W.E. is a great way to help them meet people.

Following the meal, at 6:45 each evening, adults will move right into the Adult Bible Study, “Believe”. Over the course of the study, we will explore 10 Key Beliefs, 10 Key Practices, and 10 Key Virtues that help us think, act and be more like Jesus. The study will be team taught by Rick Medford and Michael Bedevian. Children will also be studying from the “Believe” curriculum. Youth will continue their Wednesday evening program following the Alpha Youth Film Series, and our Chancel Choir Rehearsals will start up again, that same Wednesday, beginning at 7:00pm. Please join us this September 2, and let’s have an A.W.E. some

Kick-off Wednesday! Please see meal on page 6.

A nice group of FUMC members gathered Saturday, August 1 to build its

second ADA approved wheelchair ramp. The ramp measured under 35

feet from the front door to the driveway. The group worked quite well

together and is getting very efficient in assembling ramps. We completed

it in less than 2-1/2 hours. A delicious lunch was delivered to us, and

enjoyed by all when we were done. We are blessed to have this new

ministry at FUMC and word is getting around town. Thanks to all for your

support.
