Now for the look and feel…

Here’s what I see much too often…

Again, functional…but no ‘oomph.’

I just completed my state review with many comments of how beautiful our cafeterias look!...[The state auditors] said the cafeterias were like a poster child for the way school nutrition cafeterias should look!

Your efforts make a statement of quality and design. It brings that restaurant feel to our cafeteria and has improved not only the cafeteria aesthetics but also the WHOLE SCHOOL!!

Mrs. Peggy HambyFood & Nutrition Director

There is a sense of pride among the students and they enjoy being in the cafeteria. The layout and design of the cafeteria is such that it creates a climate for social interaction among our students and it has become the focal point for meetings and gatherings.

Dallas Davis, Principal

“The smile on the faces of the students and staff is priceless. All of the cafeterias in our district have been renovated. The outcome has helped participation and fostered an environment of the students feeling like they have eaten in a restaurant. An elementary student commented that it was like eating at a restaurant and the valedictorian of the senior class referred to the cafeteria as the bomb, which is also priceless.”

“I’m in love with the lunchroom!!…

Our dining experience will complement our high school’s focus on college and career readiness.

Can’t wait to see their reaction Monday!”

Karen GibsonSchool Nutrition

Director

“We eat with our eyes. The students came into a cafeteria that finally looked inviting. If a cafeteria looks awesome, you are going to want to spend more time there.”

Ashley AlexanderChild Nutrition Director

“We had our highest day of breakfast participation last week.

Noise levels seem to have been reduced.

Our students constantly give me feedback on how much they love our new tables.”

HOW DO YOU GET FROM UTILITARIAN TO FABULOUS ON A LIGHT BUDGET?

Create a Master Plan…

And implement it in phases - over a three-year period if necessary!

Options for Your Procurement Process

We’re all familiar with RFP (Request for Proposal). I want you to consider the following:

“Request for Quotation (RFQ) – a process that is used in situations where discussions aren’t

required with bidders (mainly when the specifications of a product or service are already

known), and price is the main or only factor in selecting the successful bidder.”
