St. Kilian Parish is a Catholic community of faith responding to the call of Jesus Christ through the proclamation of Scripture, the celebration of Eucharist, and in living the sacramental life of the Church. We are committed to responding to each other through communities and ministries of faith and love, addressing our spiritual, social and educational needs.. We believe that each of us is called to be a supportive, compassionate, and caring Christian witness in Mission Viejo, the Diocese of Orange and in the world.

Youth Essay/Poster Contest
This year’s topics center on forgiveness and helping our fellow man. Youth can choose to write an ESSAY or draw a POSTER that encapsulates the meaning of their chosen topic:
TOPICS:
• RECONCILIATION—In the Penitential Act that we say toward the start of Mass, it states in part “...I have sinned in what I have done and in what I have failed to do…”. Explain the changes you could make in your life to fulfill this Penitential Act during Lent and for the rest of your life.
• PAPAL STATEMENT —Recently Pope Francis said, “Let us encourage the generosity which is typical of the young and help them to work actively in building a better world. Young People are a powerful engine for the church and for society.” What is your plan to fulfill what our Holy Father has said during Lent and for the rest of your life?
Our contest is open to ALL Catholic Students. Work must be their own creation. Maximum POSTER size is 8 1/2 X 11 inches in any art medium. If pastels, chalk or charcoal is used, it must be laminated with clear plastic to prevent smear-ing. ESSAYS are to be approximately 100 words in length, either typed or neatly hand written with proper spelling with clear and logical presentation.
Submission deadline is Friday, March 27, 2015 by the close of business either at St. Kilian Catholic Church or Serra Catholic School. All entries must be accompanied by signed Entry Form in order to be considered.
