One day the wilderness will blossom with flowers; the desert wasteland will come alive with new growth and God’s glory and splendor will be on full display. With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees. Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to save you.” So go with confidence into the days ahead. May the love of God, the grace of Jesus Christ, and the presence of the Holy Spirit, be among you and within you. Amen.

Children’s Corner: InMotion Jr will meet today from 3:00-4:00pm in the Sanctuary. All rising third graders are invited to join us. Kidz Quest will also meet today from 4:00-6:00pm in the Fields Center. We’ll have a meal, devotion, play games, and make a special something for Dad or any special man in our lives! We’re gearing up for VBS! (June 25-29). If you would like to help, please contact Jeannette Braswell by June 9th in order to get a VBS t-shirt. It’s going to be a great week! We could use some supplies for VBS! We are in need of colored poster boards, aluminum foil, lemonade mixes, individual bagged chips, and masking tape. We would appreciate anything you can send in! There is a Flower Calendar in the hallway across from the Children’s Director’s office. The next available date is June 25th. Attention smart-phone users! Highland Park now has a church app. You can use it to see what’s on the church calendar, check in on Children’s and Youth Ministries, connect to the Weekday Children’s Ministries, submit prayer requests, make donations from your phone, and much more! It will then install the app on your phone. Highland Park UMW Book Club will be meeting today at 3 pm at the home of Mary Steindl (843-667-8903). The title of the book is “Small Great Things” by Jodi Picoult. The Mary Lazar Circle and friends are going to Top Hat Teas for lunch on June 13th. To car pool, meet at the church at 11:45 AM. If you would like to meet us there, meet at Top Hat Teas at noon. Guest are welcome; however, you must RSVP to Carol Duncan at 843-662-7635 as she will be making our reservations.

June Senior Trip to Georgetown is on Friday, June 16th, leaving the church at 10:15 AM. We will be eating at “The Big Tuna” in Georgetown. They serve an assortment of seafood, as well as chicken, steak, and burgers. Please RSVP to Ree Rogers no later than Sunday, June 11th.

South Africa Mission Trip is scheduled for July 7, 2018. If anyone would like to go on the mission trip the first meeting is scheduled for June 14th at 6 pm at the church. What do you do when you are between a rock and a hard place? Between the devil and the deep blue sea? When to go forward means risk and struggle and possibly pain, and to go back means defeat, despair and death? We all find ourselves in those places at some time in our life. Even the church finds itself there. It is nothing new. So what do we do when we find ourselves there? Moses and the children of Israel were fleeing Egypt, going to freedom and the promised land. But before they even reached the wilderness, they became caught between the Egyptian army and the Red Sea. To go forward, even if God did a miracle (which He did), would mean risk and pain. To go back would be slavery and death. It was in that place that God taught them some powerful lessons, lessons that would get them through the next forty years. And there are lessons for us, too. Beginning today, we are going to be looking at “the Red Sea rules,” things God teaches us to get us through our own wilderness. Remember, the God who led you to the wilderness will lead you through it.
