Prelude Welcome and Announcements
GATHERING AROUND GOD’S WORD
Introit Christ, whose glory fill the skies. Christ, the true, the only light, Sun of Righteousness, arise, Triumph o’er the shades of night; Day spring from on high, be near; Day star, in my heart appear. *Call to Worship God calls to the heavens and to the earth and invites the faithful to gather.
The heavens declare God’s righteousness, an earth sings God’s praise. Let us worship God.
*Hymn 474 O Splendor of God’s Glory Bright
*Call to Confession *Prayer of Confession Holy God, you are so far beyond our understanding; your glory is more than we can comprehend. We persist in making you too small; we restrict your wisdom and mercy to what we can explain. Forgive us. Open our eyes to infinite splendor and make us more faithful, that we may follow, in trust,
wherever you lead.
Time for silent confession.
And all God’s people said: Amen.
*Declaration of Forgiveness
Gloria Patri Glory to God, Whose Goodness Shines on Me SEE INSERT
The Peace of Christ
Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another.
The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
And also with you.
Let us share the peace of Christ with one another.

You have laid your throne's foundation from all time where thought can soar.

Prayer
Loving God, we thank you that you are as close to us as breath, that your love is constant and
unfailing. We thank you for all that sustains life, and especially for Jesus Christ, who teaches us
how to live out an ethic of justice and peace, and for the promise of transformation made mani-
fest in his life, death and resurrection. We ask you to bless this bread and this cup. Through
this meal make us the body of Christ that we may join with you in promoting the well-being of all
creation. Amen
Communion of the People
The Presbyterian Church practices open communion-welcoming to the table bap-
tized children and anyone who confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. If your
tradition permits, you are welcome to share the table with us. If you are uncomfort-
able doing so, please use this time as a time of prayer and reflection.

Many Voices, One Song: Presbyterians are joining together in worship and song through a hymn sing
program as part of the Presbyterian Hymnal Project. In worship today we continue to sing, Glory to God,
Whose Glory Shines on Me through the season of epiphany. This is a new musical setting and para-
phrase of the familiar Gloria Patri we sing each Sunday. It is important to keep in mind that goodness,
grace, and love are equally gifts of each member of the Trinity. Similarly, that these gifts come to indi-
viduals is a reminder that they are available to all who will receive them. The new hymnal, Glory to
God, will be presented at General Assembly for approval this summer.
The Presbyterian Association of Musicians (PAM) sponsors the Worship and Music Conferences at Mont-reat Conference Center each summer. Adhering to the principles of Reformed worship, PAM conferences seek to model a high standard of worship through the promotion of worthy liturgy, church music, and other arts, providing spiritual enrichment and nurture to children, youth, and adults. The conferences are designed for everyone committed to worship in the church – pastors, musicians, choir members, worship committee members, children, and youth. Join us for In God’s Abundance, Living, Moving, Being. There’s a place for you at the Montreat.
