First Presbyterian Church, Twin Falls Idaho What Is Planned Giving? Planned giving is not about finding another way to get your money. It is an opportunity for us all to return to God that which God entrusted us with during our lifetime. It is also an opportunity for us all to further strengthen Christ’s church for the future by providing for ministry and mission for those who come after us. We all stand on the shoulders of those who came before us; let’s be the shoulders for those who come after us. Many people believe that planned giving is only for the wealthy. Planned giving is for all of us. We all have something to give and we can all leave our legacy. One of the keys to our own congregation’s future will be for those of us who are currently part of the congregation to give not only for the coming Sunday or year, but to think about how God will be at work in this congregation for decades to come. Considering a planned gift means one is thinking about their own mortality and that is not something most people like to think about, but gifts that keep on giving years after they are made is a faith legacy worth thinking about. On Saturday, November 14 th at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Room you are cordially invited to come and hear more about how planned giving can be part of your stewardship from Rev. Rob Hagan who is the Northwest Regional Representative of the Presbyterian Foundation. The vision of the Presbyterian Foundation is “to bring people and mission together.” For more than 200 years, this vision has been the rudder for an organization whose main purpose is to enhance, deepen and strengthen the ministry of the local church through creating a culture of generosity. As a generous congregation already this opportunity to hear from Rev. Hagan will further enhance the good work we are already doing. So, please consider taking part of your Saturday morning, November 14 th to gather with your friends and hear about how planned giving can be part of your financial ministry with the church. Rev. Hagan will also be preaching in worship the next day. When: Saturday, November 8, 2015

Time: Immediately following worship

Thank you for your generous donations to our shoe Project! Because of your generosity, we were able to donate 150,

Thanks. Darlene

Deacon’s Corner

The Deacons continue to work on the Christmas Box Project, which will provide 20 to 25 young families with a special Christmas. Christmas boxes contain both food and a modest gift for each of the recipients. Donations of non perishable food items will continue to be collected each Sunday through November and the first week of December. Suggested items include: peanut butter; pasta; spaghetti sauce; canned meat/fish; canned chili; canned fruits and vegetables; soup; mac and cheese; boxed side dishes (such as rice or potato side dishes); and cake/cookie/brownie mixes. Food items may be left in the baskets in the church foyer. The Christmas Gift Tag Tree will be set up in the upper narthex beginning Sunday, November 22. Each tag identifies a gift for one of our Christmas Box recipients. If you would like to purchase a gift, please select a tag, rec-ord your name and tag number on the sheet provided, purchase the gift, wrap it and return it to the church with the tag attached. The Deacons wish to thank the congregation for all of the support you give to the Christmas Box Project. It is the largest project we undertake each year and it would not be possible without your generosity.

Dear Ms. Annen:

As a representative of the Twin Falls School District, I would like to give a heartfelt thank you for your generous donation of shoe gift cards,

sleeping bags and school supplies to the students and families at risk in the district. There are countless families in need and your caring

contribution is greatly appreciated. The students that received the supplies were very grateful for your kindness. Thank you again for your

assistance.

Sincerely,

JoAnn Gemar LSW

Dear Church Family,

It is good to be settled in my independent living apartment.

I like it and I am adjusting to the many changes in my life.

My son Stan Shaff, managed the big move and continues to

be my caregiver in many ways. Cal’s son, David, & his wife

Barbara, live in nearby Bellingham so I have family here.

Miss You,

Lillian

C.A.M.P. Fundraiser in November The First Presbyterian Church Community Assistance Ministry Program (C.A.M.P.) will for the second year participate in the Festival of Giving. Brizee Heating is sponsoring us and we will be entering a wreath in hopes it will bring in money for the C.A.M.P. office. We will have a Voting Box and all the proceeds we receive in the box comes back to the C.A.M.P and a percentage of the total sales. We earned over $2,000 last year. We hope you will participate and buy a ticket for the Gala for $50 which will be held on Friday, November 20 at 6 p.m. at the Idaho Landscape Center. We need to sale 10 tickets by November 6. Last year the Festival of Giving brought in over $102,000 and this year they hope to make over $150,000. All the proceeds from the event goes back to all the non-profits and charities that participate in the Event. Rob Green is donating a truck to be auctioned at the Gala. The Gala is lots of fun with lots of good food and live auctions. It is also fun to see all the decorated trees and wreaths. Please come and support C.A.M.P by participating in the Festival of Giving this year.- Ginny Riffle (please insert the postcard below the article which gives the dates and times for the Festival of Giving).
