Ingredients 1 pound crabmeat, picked free of shells 1/3 cup crushed crackers (recommended: Ritz) 3 green onions (green and white parts), finely chopped 1/2 cup finely chopped bell pepper 1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 egg

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce 1 teaspoon dry mustard

1/2 lemon, juiced

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon salt

Dash cayenne pepper

Flour, for dusting

1/2 cup peanut oil Favorite dipping sauce, for serv-ing

Directions

In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients, except for

the flour and peanut oil. Shape into patties and dust

with flour.

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. When oil is

hot, carefully place crab cakes, in batches, in pan and

fry until browned, about 4 to 5 minutes. Carefully flip

crab cakes and fry on other side until golden brown,

about 4 minutes. Serve warm with preferred sauce.

¿Terminará la historia? Sr. Palau: Yo le he oído hablar acerca de lo que usted llama "el clímax de la historia". Lo que usted dice me interesa mucho pero me da terror. Sr. Palau, ¿hay escape para el clímax de la historia? ¿Qué podemos hacer para prepararnos y para escapar? Me encanta esa pregunta señorita. Me encanta porque es un tema de suprema importancia. Sí, la historia tiene un clímax, tiene una culminación, aunque por otro lado la historia nunca puede tener un fin, porque al menos en la infinidad sigue la existencia, sigue el tiempo. Pero la historia de la raza humana como nosotros la conocemos, llegará a un clímax. Así lo en-señan en todo lugar, no meramente los políticos, científicos, psicólogos y observadores de la situación mundial hoy, sino alguien de mucha más importancia, lo afirma Jesucristo el Hijo de Dios, que todo lo conoce y todo lo sabe. Lo hizo escribir en la Biblia hace dos mil años, y por lo tanto hay con-fianza en creer que es la ver-dad. Es real que debemos estar pre-parados para el clímax de la his-toria. Y Jesucristo nos dejó tres pasos que debemos dar, mi esti-mada señorita, para preparar-nos. Primero, dice Jesucristo que tenemos que estar despier-tos. Una de las palabras fa-voritas del Señor Jesús era "velad", o sea, "estén despier-tos". Tenemos que estar des-piertos porque no sabemos a qué hora regresará Jesucristo. Por lo tanto señorita, usted tiene que estar con los ojos abiertos. Le recomiendo que cada día lea la Biblia, y además al leer los diarios, los periódicos y revistas, analice lo que está aconteciendo en el mundo para comprobar cómo se acerca la culmi-nación de la historia. Segundo, Jesucristo dijo que debemos servir con celo a los demás. Sirva primero a los pobres, a los necesi-tados, y a los que sufren las injusticias de la vida. Porque Jesucristo le ha puesto a usted en este mundo para servir a los demás, y sobre todo a los más nece-sitados. En tercer lugar, prepararse para el clímax de la his-toria, significa también reconocer que ha pecado con-tra Dios y que necesita Su perdón. El le ama como nos ama a todos. Y Dios quiere perdonarle, señorita. Pero usted tiene que reconocer que se ha rebelado contra El. Tiene que creer en Jesucristo, Aquel que murió en la cruz en su lugar, que pagó por sus pecados. El re-sucitó. El vive. Cristo le está llamando, señorita, por eso usted me ha escrito. El quiere entrar a su corazón; ésa es la forma de escapar del terror del fin de la historia. Will history end? Mr. Palau: I have heard speak about which you call “the climax of history”. What you say interest me but also frightens me. Mr. Palau, is there an escape for the climax of his-tory? What can we do to prepare ourselves and to es-cape? I love your question young lady. It enchants me be-cause it is a subject of supreme importance. Yes, his-tory has a climax; it has a culmination, although on the other hand history can never have an end, be-cause at least in infinity, it follows the existence, fol-lows the time. But the history of the human race as we know it will arrive at a climax. Thus they teach it in all place, not merely the politicians, scientists, psy-chologists and observers of the world-wide situation today, but somebody of much more importance, af-

firms to Jesus Christ the Son of God, that knows it all. He made it be written in the Bible two thousand years ago, and therefore there is confidence in thinking that it is the truth. It is real that we must be prepared for the climax of history. And Jesus Christ gave us three steps we must give, my dear young lady, to prepare to us. First, Jesus Christ says that we must be wide-awake. One of the favorite words our Lord Jesus was “be vigil”, that is, “wide-awake”. We must be wide-awake because we do not know what hour Je-sus Christ will return. Therefore young lady, you must be with open eyes. I recommend you read the Bible every day, and in addition when reading the newspapers and magazines, analyzes

what’s occurring in the world to verify how the culmi-nation of history approaches. Second, Jesus Christ said that we must serve with fer-vor to others. Serve the poor men first, to the needed ones, and to the ones which undergo the injustices of this life. Because Jesus Christ has put you in this world to serve others, and mainly to the needy. Thirdly, to prepare itself for the climax of history, also means to recognize that you have sinned against God and you need his forgiveness. He loves you just as he loves us all. And God wants to forgive you, young lady. But you must recognize that you have rebelled yourself against him. You must believe in Jesus Christ, in the one who died in the cross in your place, which paid your sins. He resurrected. He lives. Christ is call-ing you to him, young lady, that’s the reason you find yourself reading this. He wants to enter into your heart; that is the form to escape of the terror of the end of history. El dolor emocional es una experiencia experimentada por todos, y tiene sus efectos profundos y deja sus marcas bien penetradas en el alma del que sufre este terrible dolor. Comparto contigo algunos puntos en cómo tratar con el dolor emocional, estas sugerencias las encuentro en la Biblia. Primero, establezco que Dios está interesado en ayu-darte con este dolor emocional. Nahúm 1:7 Jehová es bueno, fortaleza en el día de la angustia; y conoce a los que en el confían. Salmos 9:13 Ten misericordia de mi, Jehová; Mira mi aflicción que padezco a causa de los que me aborrecen. Juan 10:10 (Jesucristo dijo) El ladrón no viene sino para matar y hurtar y destruir; yo he venido para que tengan vida, y para la que la tengan en abundancia. Segundo: Que hacer para sobre llevar el dolor emocional?

1.Toma tiempo para orar a Dios. El está interesado en tu vida, y quiere ayudarte. 2.Lee la Biblia, con lecturas selectas que te ayuden en la situa-ción que te encuentras. 3.Escucha música espiritual que edifica tu alma. Buena música ayuda la sanidad del alma. Proverbios 25:20 Santiago 5:13 4.Si tienes algo que confesar a Dios, hazlo. 5.Si tienes algo contra algunos perdónales. 6.No te sientas culpable. 7.Medita en cosas buenas y positivas. 8.Acude al templo y concéntrate en la adoración y en la ala-banza y logra el tiempo para edificar tu espíritu. 9.Apártate de los que te tumban. Escoge buenas amistades. 10.Discierne los consejos que tus amigos te dan, y escoge solo lo que es bueno para ti. Aprende hacer tus propias decisiones. 11.Ten fe y no vivas en el temor o en la duda. 12.Evita la soledad. 13.Orar por otros, pero no cargues sus problemas. 14.Sepárate de lo que te aflige. 15.Cuídate de los que te causan tropiezos 16.Mantén una actitud positiva en el dolor. 2. Read the Bible, with reading selections that help you in the situation that you are in.

3. Listening to spiritual music that builds your soul. Good mu-sic helps the health of the soul. Proverbs 25:20, James 5:13. 4. If you have something to confess to God, do it. 5. If you have something against some forgive them. 6. Don’t feel guilty. 7. Meditate in good and positive things. 8. Go to the temple and concéntrate in the praise and worship and obtain the time to build your Spirit. 9. Separate yourself from people who trip you. Choose good

friendships. 10. Discern from the advice your friends give you, and

chooses what is best for you. Learn to make your own decisions.

11. Have faith and don’t live in the fear of doubt. 12. Avoid being alone. 13. Pray for others, but don’t let them become your problems. 14. Separate of what afflicts you. 15. Guard yourself of those who make you fall. 16. Maintain a positive attitude in the pain. Romans 8:18, John

El Centro de Abuso Familiar (Family Abuse Center), ex-

iste para eliminar la violencia domestica en el Centro de

Texas por medio de proveer albergue e intervención y

educación a víctimas de violencia domestica.

El Centro de Abuso Familiar es un albergue con 60

camas, ofreciendo 3 comidas por día, meriendas salud-

ables, cuartos para familias e igualmente para mujeres

solteras, consejería individual, terapia en grupo, clases

de planificación financiera y asesoría legal. Ofrecemos

ayuda individual en cada caso para ayudarles a salir de

ese tiempo difícil en sus

vidas.

Típicamente, el 60%-

70% de nuestro albergue

es compuesto por niños.

The Family Abuse Center exists to eliminate domestic

violence in Central Texas by sheltering victims of do-

mestic violence, and by preventing abuse from occur-

ring through intervention and education.

The FAC shelter is a 60 bed facility, offering 3 meals per

day and healthy snacks, rooms for families as well as a

single women’s room, individual counseling, group ther-

apy, life skills, financial planning classes, and legal ad-

vocacy. We offer case management to each client to

help them through this difficult time in their lives.

Typically, children make up 60

- 70% of our shelter popula-

tion. It is important for chil-

dren to have structure in their

lives, especially children who

come from a background lack-

ing stability and security. We

strive to provide that at Family

Abuse Center with evening

activity groups, individual,

group, and family counseling,

case management, and crisis

intervention. Studies show

that children who witness do-

mestic violence are found to show more anxiety, ag-

gression, depression, and have low self-esteem.

It is important that every individual in our community

can become more aware of how to prevent, intervene

and be less tolerant of domestic violence. If you or

I firmly believe that God "broke through" on September

11, and He continues to assure us of His presence,

even as the terrible effects of the tragedy still echo

throughout your lives. Many of you have probably read

the gripping accounts of what tran-

spired on that awful day, but even in

these stories, there is evidence that

God was making Himself known amidst

the horror.

USA Today recounted the experience of

Stanley Praimnath, a vice president for

Fuji Bank, whose office was located on

the 81st floor of the south tower of the

World Trade Center. After the first air-

liner hit the neighboring building, he

attempted to vacate his office but was told to return to

his desk. As he sat talking on the phone, the nose of

the second plane filled the sky outside his window — so

close that he could read the writing on its wing. His of-

fice exploded in a maelstrom of fire and jet fuel, and

Praimnath was left trapped beneath a collapsed wall.

Brian Clark, who was three floors above when the

There is now a spiritual sensitivity in

this nation that was not evident be-

fore the tragic events of September 11. Indeed, some

of our governmental leaders seemed determined, prior

to that date, to "secularize" every aspect of public life.

For example, Democratic leaders in the U.S. Senate

last summer ceased using the words "so help me God"

when administering oaths to nominees during confir-

mation hearings. When news of this abrupt change in

policy leaked out, Vermont Senator Patrick J. Leahy

MIAMI - La decisión de la Corte Su-prema de Justicia de permitir que in-documentados con orden de de-portación reabran sus casos si cam-biaron las condiciones de elegibilidad o lograron reunir nuevas evidencias que justifiquen su permanencia legal en Estados Unidos, alegró a miles y más de uno derramó lágrimas de emoción. timedia (UIM) Ronald Sosa, de 42 años y padre de dos niños, quien en la víspera escapó de una redada y cuya esposa fue expulsada en enero por el departamento de Seguridad Nacional (DHS). Según datos del Servicio de Aduanas y Control Fronter-izo (ICE), unos 540 mil inmigrantes indocumentados tienen orden de deportación, como Sosa, y están siendo buscados a nivel nacional por más de 100 gru-pos especiales de agentes federales que operan con apoyo de policías municipales y estatales. En el curso del año fiscal 2008 el DHS deportó a casi 350 mil indocumentados, un 20 por ciento más que las expulsiones registradas el año anterior, y prometió que en el curso de 2009 arrestaría y deportaría a unos 400 mil indocumentados con orden de expulsión firmada por un juez.

"El fallo de la Corte Suprema de Justicia es como un bálsamo para cientos de miles que por diver-sas razones perdieron sus casos en una corte, pero que tienen hijos ciudadanos estadounidenses", dijo Nora Sandigo, directora de la Fraternidad Nicaragüense de Miami, organización que le brinda asistencia legal a Sosa. I never gave it thought one way or the other." Oh

really, Senator? One does not abandon decades of tra-

dition in the halls of Congress without forethought and

purpose. Such is the nature of politics. Nevertheless,

Leahy’s unilateral decision was indicative of the progres-

sive effort to eliminate any reference to God by our na-

tional leaders. But on September 11, everything

changed. On the day after the terrorist attacks, mem-

bers of the United States Congress abandoned partisan

bickering and stood on the Capitol steps with tears in

their eyes singing "God Bless America." Similarly,

Americans from nearly every profession and walk of life

embraced phrases invoking God’s name, proudly dis-

playing them on banners, bumper stickers, buttons and

— without any regard whatsoever for the ACLU — at

public venues!

A recent editorial in USA Today, written by Kathleen

Parker, describes this phenomenon in powerful terms.

I’d like to share an excerpt from that article, which

serves as a further reminder that God has not been ab-

sent during these past few months:

America today is about God and country, but then it

always has been. We just lost track. We lost track

when we evicted God from our public institutions and

when we stopped honoring our nation with the songs

and rituals that defined American childhood until a few

decades ago. . . . Since terrorists brought down the

twin towers and part of the Pentagon, we’ve repeatedly

witnessed America’s leaders praying, singing, pledging

and asking the nation’s citizens to join them. Which is

to say, our children must be awfully confused. Reared

and educated in godless institutions that also scarcely

acknowledge the importance of patriotism — watching

adults sing songs they’ve never learned—they must

wonder "wassup." . . . If we’re to win this war — sure

to last into our children’s futures—we have to reweave

the rituals of God and country into our institutions. We

can’t expect children to understand and someday de-

fend a heritage that they have never been given.

I agree wholeheartedly with Kathleen Parker’s senti-

ments. I’m thankful for the renewed interest in God

that has arisen in our country since the attacks. My

prayer is that this spirit of faith and patriotism will con-

tinue for years to come, touching every part of our so-

ciety long after the current crisis has passed. Even

more importantly, I hope the heightened spiritual sen-

sitivity that many Americans are now experiencing will

lead to a genuine outpouring of faith in which many

people give their lives to Jesus Christ. Those of us who

already know Him must be ready to share His love with

the ones who are questioning their existence and seek-

ing God during these uncertain times. Christmas pro-

vides us with a wonderful opportunity to do just that!

It’s up to us to let our neighbors know that the Baby in

the manger is more than just a symbol or a tradition.

He is the living God of the universe who died and rose

again to save us from our sins.
