Sr. Palau:
Luis Palau
Mr. Palau:
What do I do with my drug addict son?
What should I do with my drug addict son? The doctors aren’t able to help him, and the psychiatrist can’t seem to help free him.
Dear Madam, there is only a single answer that gets to the root of the matter. To get rid of this addiction, what your son needs is a personal encounter with the largest spiritual power in the universe.
We see that power in a man that was not a drug addict but was in a very similar situation. I’m referring to a case when the Lord Jesus found a man with an unclean spirit. This man lived among the tombs, and was so strong that nobody could tie him down not even with chains, be-cause he would break them into pieces. Day and night he would give voices to the mountains and hurt himself with stones. Nobody could help him or do anything for him.
But one day there was a wonderful meeting with the Lord Jesus, who took out the evil spirits and restored the man that had been possessed. Those who knew the man saw that he was a completely normal man. (You read the story in the Bible in Mark Chapter 5.)
Now, you’re asking me what to do with your drug addict son. The only vital and radical solution is that your son has an encounter with Jesus Christ, the son of God. If your child opens his heart to Christ by faith, the he will break the chains of drug addiction; Christ will restore him fully just like I mentioned in the story about the man and the evil spirits.
Pray to God for your son, ask Christ to work in his heart to free him from slavery and to have a life with purpose.
You that’s a drug abuser, receive Christ in your heart. He
is going to forgive, clean and free your soul from the clutches of drugs. Open your heart to Christ right now.

The True Remedy to Stress By: Max
Webster’s Dictionary defines stress as a physical, chemical, or
emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor
in disease causation. In other words stress is caused by work, kids, laun-
dry, a flat tire, or just things that mess up our or schedule or routine.
In the world today there are countless studies about stress that
tell us that stress causes health problems, creates friction among loved
ones, unable to relax and life just seems impossible. Some of the things
that the medical world offers as remedies are vitamins, supplements,
medication, therapy, and doctors. There are many steps and ideas that
can help relieve stress like exercise, eating healthy, learning to manage
your time and etc. But through our every day lives we forget that we
already have the solution, Prayer.
Prayer is one of the most important tools that we have to fight
stress. Through prayer we are able to express to God everything that is
bothering us, and creating stress. And in prayer we can ask God to re-
move all the things that are causing stress, and ask for peace. As Chris-
tians we have to learn how to give all our stress to God. For example
sometimes we go to church full of stress and we ask God to remove it and
to give us peace, but as soon as we get home we let little things bother
us, and it starts creating stress once again. God can give us peace
through prayer, but is up to us to maintain it.
God is giving us this tool not just to communicate to him, but
also to express our feelings and problems to him. He loves us so much
that he will listen to what we have to say, and remove those things that
are hurting us. So use prayer to fight stress that comes every day.

“Sometimes it’s Just Best
to Walk Away” By: Anonymous
I could hear them screaming from the top of
their lungs as soon as I stepped out of my
truck. I gently approach the house and
knock on the door. All of a sudden the
screaming stops. Mike answers the door. Hi
there Luke, I am sorry, but now is not a
good time for this, could we re-schedule?
Sure. Call me back when you think is appro-
priate, I’ll be waiting for your call.
What if I would have asked him? “What’s
going on?” “Is everything OK?” do you think
he would have told me...well my wife and I
are arguing because...blah, blah, blah... or
do you think he would have told me to take
a hike to mind my business? I think it’s obvi-
ous, the man was angry! What to do in
these types of situations? I Just walk away;
because you don’t know how somebody is
going to react when they are under stressful
anger, you may probably help if you are a
person that they both know and trust, but if
you are not, most likely you can make it
worse, especially when it’s something where
you don’t know what’s going on or what
they are arguing about, you also don’t want
them to take their anger out on you or trig-
ger a different kind of anger, for example
jealousy, doubt, favoritism, etc. Now, if you
happen to notice that things can get out of
hand the most reasonable thing to do is call
the police even if after everything is over
they may never want to speak to you again,
because of embarrassment or anger, but
you’ll know you did the right thing.
Proverbs 19:19 says, “A hot-tempered man
must pay the penalty; if you rescue him, you
will have to do I it again.” I say: Just leave
them in God’s hands and walk away.

The days are approaching when children and pre-
teens return to school. For some, expecting in antici-
pation and for others parents more work yet. I will
share some observations with some parents that can
help make the most effective school year for their
children and for you:
1. Get your child used to sleeping early and wak-ing up earlier, to create a habit of discipline and to not miss classes.
2. Get your children used to have breakfast before attending school.
3. Don’t send the children to school angry be-cause of repeated scolding.
4. Take time to say a prayer of blessing and read a portion of the Bible with the children before
sending them to school. 5. Teach them your love and tell them that you believe in them. 6. Make time to attend the PTA meetings and connect with the school where your son attends. 7. Introduce yourself with the teacher of your children, and show words of appre-ciation and thanks and offer your ser-vices as a father or mother of a student. 8. Introduce yourself with the Principal in
which your son attends and tell them that you support public education.
9. Stay alert in monitoring his grades, if you no-tice an abnormality progress in skills or the behavior of your children, speak with them without frightening them and investigate the reasons and locate the solution, on occasions only communication with the child can indi-cated the solution.
10. Educate yourself of the resources that your school district offers for your children.
11. Make time to help your children with home-work, and if you don’t have time find help for them.
12. Control the time spend watching television. 13. Rewards your children for good grades. 14. Visit your children in school during lunch time. 15. Get your children used to reading; visit the
public library with them. 16. If your child has difficulty with concentration
and is too restless don't stop from consulting a doctor to examine him/her for the sake of him/her.
17. Verify that your child is delivering his home-work; there is no son who does not hide the truth.
18. Bring your children to the Temple and teach
them to worship God.

As I was driving to their 2-story home, located in a
beautiful neighborhood, Mr. Esquivel was already out-
side, ready to greet me. These dedicated parents of
three shared with me how they've prepared their two
girls for this upcoming school year in Midway ISD. The
youngest one is practically still a baby. I entered their
home and was greeted by Mrs. Esquivel and their three
daughters: Anita - who will be entering Kindergarten,
Carlita - who will be going to 5th grade, and of course
little (NAME).
Mrs. Esquivel was sitting on the couch with little
(NAME), and Mr. Esquivel sat on the stairs, joined by
Anita and Carlita.
I directed my first question to Mrs. Esquivel:
How do you prepare for the first day of school?
Well, first of all, we have to talk to them. They'll be
transferring schools this year; they will have new teach-
ers, new friends, and we're letting them know litle by
little, so that we won't have issues - such as, they don't
want to stay...
I jumped in with my second question, directed at Mr.
Esquivel:
How strict are you, in regard to your daughters'
homework?
Well, we're not strict, but we try to always keep them
busy, to complete all their home work, and we sit them
down to study. In fact, when she has a big exam at
school, we notice she gets very nervous, but we ask her
to just close her eyes and meditate on God. We tell her
to put Him first - if she puts Him first, the grades will
just be excellent. And they are! When she gets home
after the exam, she says,"That was easy, Dad!"
As a parent, I ask the question that a lot of parents
have:
Where do you shop for your kids' clothes and
school supplies?
We try different stores, to find clothes that are on sale.
The stores we like to shop at are Belk and sometimes
Ross.
And, who likes to receive that dreaded phone call
from the principal's office?
Mr. & Mrs. Esquivel's quick response to that question:
Never have the girls misbehaved in school. Never have I
had complaints from their teachers. On the contrary,
the teachers have arranged for us to meet with them -
to tell us that our daughters are very well behaved. And
we just keep motivating them, so that they can keep
behaving well.
I have two boys, with one in currently in school. My
other son is in daycare. I wonder how I will be able to
juggle their school events, if ever they both have one at
the same time. I asked the Esquivel's about that:
When there's more than one event to attend, has
it been difficult?
In general, we both try to be there. But when one of us
can't make it, at least one of us is there.
Since you have both girls in school, have you ever
had events that were at the same time?
Yes.
How do you manage that?
Mrs. Esquivel answered that one:
Well, an example of when they were together was
Thanksgiving. He went with one of the girls and I went
with our other daughter.
If you have a toddler, and it's his/her first year of
school, how do you prepare them? What do you
say to make it easier on them?
Here are a few things Mr. and Mrs. Esquivel did to make
it easier on their girls:
When your child is entering Pre-K, make sure you men-
tally prepared them - weeks or months before. If you
don't prepare them, that's when they'll be crying, they
may bite the teachers...Since they are not prepared
mentally, they don't know what's going to happen. Their
thoughts are what if they don't come back for me, what
will happen? As little girls, we always told them,"You're
going to go to school. You're going to learn a lot of col-
ors. You're going to learn about letters. You're going to
have new friends." Things to that effect. Another thing
that helped us was that our oldest daughter, Carlita,
was already attending school, and she would play
School with her younger sister (who was going to attend
Pre-K). When Carlita was younger, we would play
School with her, too. We'd sit down and pretend we
were the teacher. As parents, we would like to suggest
to other parents: Take time with your children, at least
10 minutes, to prepare them for school. They will have
a good time.

Esquivel:
quieren quedar etc.….
Brinque a mi siguiente pregunta, dirigida al Sr.
Esquivel:
