Our next Family Chapel will be Wednesday, January 6 at 9:00 am in the Sanctuary. Through singing, praying, and listening to a short message, we are exposing these young children and their f a m i l i e s t o a w o r s h i p experience. This is a very brief service and we would LOVE to have church members of all ages attend to worship with and welcome our preschool families.
Bonclarken Lunch Sunday, January 31
Following the 11:00 worship service in Robinson Hall
All families are invited to lunch in Robinson Hall on Sunday, January 31 for a special presentation on Bonclarken summer
camps and conferences. We especially hope families with children and youth will attend and hear about the wonderful opportunities at our conference center. Sign up to attend in
the connector or by calling the church office.
Welcome New Members Gerald and Abby Talley moved to Fort Mill in 2007 so Abby
could work with her dad in their manufacturing company. Prior
to that, they lived in Fuquay-Varina, NC, near Gerald’s hometown
of Willow Spring. A graduate of NC State, Gerald is the executive
director of the ALS Association of South Carolina. Cooking
barbeque is one of his main hobbies. Abby and Gerald met at NC
State and will celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary in
January. Abby is a two-time breast cancer survivor and finished
active treatment last August. In her free time, she uses her passion
for writing and love for God to reach out to others in the fight.
The Talleys adopted their daughter Zaylee, a kindergartner at
Springfield Elementary, from foster care in May 2014. Their
experience motivates them to be advocates for the children
waiting on forever families as well as organizations that support
foster families. Gerald and Abby look forward to where the Lord
will lead them and growing with First ARP.
We are thankful to God for the 22 communicant members He sent us in 2015!
Youth Groups will resume Wednesday, January 13, at 6:15 pm.
High School Special Sessions Dr. George Barron will speak to our High School students on Faith, Science & Reason. This will be a can’t miss three week series (January 20, January 27, February 3) focusing on the tension we as Christians face in the world. Through his education and life experiences, Dr. Barron hopes to share ways we can be confident in our faith
and prepared for what the world may throw at us. This will be especially fruitful for our soon to be college students! High School Students!
High School Catechism Class We’re excited to offer to all of our High School Students a course through the Westminster Shorter Catechism. The Shorter Catechism, though more than 350 years old, is undoubtedly still one of the best introductions to the key doctrines of the Christian Faith. Working through the WSC via recitation and discussion is a great way to enrich our head and heart knowledge of God. We hope that all of our High School students will consider embarking on this journey which will start with an introductory meeting on Sunday, January 10th at the beginning of the Sunday School hour. Be on the look-out for more information!
Discipleship Groups: January 10 & 24
Reminder: Middle School Girls and Guys meet on Sundays of the week High School Girls meet on Mondays
High School Guys meet on Thursdays
Mark your calendar First ARP Rock Hill! Join us at Chick-fil-A on Cherry Road Thursday, January 28 for our first Spirit Day! This will help us gain some exposure in our community. 2016 Christian Book Club Do you like to read? Michelle Tipton is organizing a Christian Book Club, focusing on reading a variety of Christian fiction and non-fiction. Different from a Bible study, this
book club is designed to gather women who enjoy reading Christian fiction and nonfiction and offer a regular time each month to discuss the themes within selected books. This is not intended to replace Bible study, but instead, offer a great opportunity to toss around ideas and sharpen each other toward growth and refreshment through discussion and fellowship. The Book Club will begin on Thursday, January 21 at 7 pm, and meet monthly (on the 3rd Thursday each month) throughout the year. A sign-up sheet, along with the reading list, will be available in the connector. If you have any questions, please email Michelle Tipton ([email protected]).
THANK YOU First ARP Church Family, I came to the church to pick up the donated toys for 'Toys For Happiness' …..WOW....the box was overflowing!! How generous! Once again, another example of the outpouring of love that First ARP shows for those who are in need. This year, we provided toys or gifts for over 1500 needy children in York County and our Church really stepped up. Thank you!!!
Merry Christmas and God bless, Tom Anderson, Toys for Happiness volunteer

There have been several email accounts of church members hacked over the last few months. If you receive any that have a link with no description or an odd subject matter (weight loss, etc.), then I would suggest calling the person to confirm the email. Please do not click on any links unknowingly because this will trigger the email being sent to more people. ~Philip
On Saturday, December 12, our kids loaded and delivered 48 shoeboxes to the Samaritan’s Purse processing center in Charlotte. While there, they toured the facility, learning more about the ministry and the children who receive the gifts. One of the highlights was meeting Jackie, a young woman who received a Christmas Child shoebox when she was in an orphanage in
Guatemala. She shared about her life there as an orphan, and how receiving the box gave her hope and a feeling of being loved. Jackie was later adopted by a family here in the States and now volunteers with Samaritan’s Purse. Thank you to all who supported this ministry and
outreach. Our group included Sally Anne Catoe, Ann Grace Donahue, Brady & Lainey Nowicki, Miley Rhoad, Roe Roach, Eli, Nathan & Miles Robinson, Addison Sanders, Ann Marie Williamson and leaders Heather Robinson and Connie Kiser.
