AbstractNowadays solar energy harnessing is the need of the hour because of the shortage of non conventional power. However the efficiency of solar PV modules is still quite low, and it is necessary to have a testing system to be able to find out the light and dark curves so that the performance of solar modules can be evaluated. This project involves construction of such a testing of solar PV module.The system uses a microcontroller which is programmed to increase the load current in step, starting from zero to full sort circuit rating of solar panel. The current and voltage values are measured for each step value of the load, and power output is computed. When the whole range is scanned, the data is sent serially to the PC and IV curves are plotted and evaluated
