Mind Your Own Business Act to stop NSA spying) announced that hehad been allowed to read the text of TPP and that it is an anti-American power grab by big corporations :

Democratic Senator Wyden the head of the committeewhich is supposed to oversee it is so furious about the lack of access that he has introduced legislation to forcedisclosure.

Republican House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa is so upset by it that he has leaked a document on hiswebsite to show whats going on.

What is everyone so furious about?

An international treaty being negotiated in secret whichwould not only crack down on Internet privacy much morethan SOPA or ACTA, but would actually d e s t r o y t h e

s o v e r e i g n t y of the U.S. and all other signatories.

It is called the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

Wyden is the chairman of the trade committee in the Senate the committee which is supposed to have jurisdiction over the TPP.Wyden is also on the Senate Intelligence Committee, and sohe and his staff have high security clearances and arenormally able to look at classified documents.

And yet Wyden and his staff have been denied access to theTPPs text.

comes right down to it Article 2, Section 2 of the Constitution grantsthe President the power to negotiate treaties...not the House of

Representatives...so these reps really have no Constitutional rolehere.

Sorry about that stream of consciousness. In directreply to your comment: no, I'm afraid a constitutionalconvention, without first firewalling corporations from

participating, would be co-opted like every other politicalmovement in the last decade.

I don't think the (corporate-sponsored) States can or willpursue such a firewall unless mandated by popular petition todo so. For that reason I think the strategy must be to perfectthe wording and limit all discussion to the specifics of one(firewall) amendment. We can deal with all the other redherrings and serious policy issues AFTER citizen sovereigntyis restored. It would be nice to repeal the 16th and 17th at

the same time, but if those issues became argumentative Iwould pospone them for later consideration.

The only issue we should be thinking of now is whether ThePeople run this country; or Wall Street. A full-on convention

History

The CFR dates back to 1921, and in 1996 published its

history, available on its website .

The membership of the CFR includes past Presidents,Ambassadors, Secretaries of State, Wall Street investors,international bankers, foundation executives, think tankexecutives, lobbyist lawyers, NATO and Pentagon militaryleaders, wealthy industrialists, journalists , media owners andexecutives, university presidents and key professors, selectCongressmen, Supreme Court Justices, Federal Judges,wealthy entrepreneurs, and as many as ten 9-11 CommissionMembers. [1] [2]

Due perhaps more to its origins, associations, and history,than to its current composition and activities, the CFR doeshave a reputation as one of the "triumvirate of eliteorganizations" together with the Bilderberg and the TrilateralCommission . Elitism doesn't necessarily preclude the abilityto provide unbiased and useful service however. [3]

Carroll Quigley , Professor of History at Georgetown

University, stated, "The Council of Foreign Relations isthe American Branch of a society which originated inEngland and believes national boundaries should beobliterated and one-world rule established." [4]

They hold regular private meetings including members, andvery select guests. Occasionally they will hold a publicmeeting, and invite the open press (including C-SPAN ). Theimage of the CFR as a closed-shop bi-partisan discussionforum for the foreign policy establishment has fuelledcriticism that the organisation and its members arecontrolling world policy and events.

In 1938 the Council created numerous Committees onForeign Relations throughout the county, in 1995 theCommittees became a separate organization under theumbrella of the American Committees on Foreign Relations inWashington D.C.
