There are Ethiopian Eunuchs all around us, but none of them will change if we do not get up and go and sit beside and guide. In our twenty-first century world we see dramatic moral ero- sion and moral decay all around us! That is why the Lord needs us to get up and go and sit beside and guide. Do like Philip and tell the Jesus story because that is how the door gets opened for outsiders to become in- siders. It can be easy to see individual people who are living in sin or groups of peo- ple living in certain sinful life- styles and think that they are our enemy. But our real en- emy is Satan who clouds peo- ple’s minds and convinces people that they are right in what they are doing - even when they are one hundred percent wrong. Times change and moral depravity increases - but man’s greatest need is still the same it has always been. Man needs Jesus and His saving power and he needs someone to share the Gospel message of salvation and general Biblical truth. The account of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch in Acts 8:26 -39 provides for us a practical guide for sharing the truth with people. Here is the first lesson that guides us in know- ing how to share the truth with people. You have to get up and go! An angel of the Lord challenges Philip to go and meet this Ethiopian Eunuch. The Ethiopian Eunuch believes in the God of Israel and he is reading the Old Testament Book of Isaiah, but he does not under- stand what he is reading. The Holy Spirit directs Philip to go to this chariot and stay near it. This account would not even be recorded in the Bible if two simple things had not happened. First - God told Philip to get up and go. (Acts 8:26) Second - Philip got up and went. (Acts 8:27) Who are the people in your life that God needs you to get up and go to? So often in our lives we do not have an issue with understanding God’s prompting in what He wants us to do. The issue comes in us getting up and being re- sponsive to what God is prompting us to do. So - we have to get up and go. And then we have to sit beside and guide. Philip im- mediately got up and went as he was told. He gets to the chariot and hears the man reading the Book of Isaiah.
