PASTOR ROD’S MESSAGE

Is “Hitler” coming again for our church? Well, the answer is sadly “yes.” We’ve been watching the trend for some time now. Same-sex issues

(homosexual issues) “trump” religious freedom issues every time!

We can document numerous and egregious examples of this but none so profound as in New Mexico when a

photography studio was sued for not taking pictures at a homosexual ceremony. They said it was their religious

convictions.

The court ruled that what the studio did was illegal, though the argument was it would violate her

Christian conscious. The court concluded that it wasn’t an issue of their religious convictions as it was that

they had violated the ‘couple’ human rights! The court said their services must be offered to a whole list of

people which included all “protected classification” of these groups. I know you think you can see where this is

going but read on: the court dismissed all the defendants’ arguments and said this has nothing to do with free

speech, nor conscious. That being said New Mexico doesn’t even have same-sex marriage as a legal option in

their state.

The judge then ruled that the studio, it cannot operate on the basis of their sincerely held Christian prin-

ciples. Now Justice Bosson acknowledged that this decision will compel the Huguenins “to compromise the

very religious beliefs that inspire their lives.” But, he insists, the State of New Mexico will compel them to do

just that. Did you read that? If you actually listen closely you can hear the Gestapo boots on the street outside

your door even now! But you’ve not hear the most egregious part yet!

With a hitleresque decree, Justice Bosson asserts: “At its heart, this case teaches that at some point in our lives

all of us must compromise, if only a little, to accommodate the contrasting values of others.” Really, a little

accommodation? Really one belief the Christian’s is 100% wrong and the other is asserted to be 100% right

and that’s a compromise?

And now the most flagrant outrageous part: Justice Bosson argued, “part of the glue that holds us to-

gether as a nation, the tolerance that lubricates the moving parts of us as a people.” “In short, I would say to the

Huguenins, with the utmost respect: it is the price of citizenship.” I hope you share this with every sincere

Christian that you know. Surrendering our faith and even our private business is part of the price of being a

Citizen of America! It’s the price the judge says, we Christians MUST pay to live here.

And then along comes Hillary, the darling of the liberal elites. She wants religion to remain inside your

sanctuary. She recently said this to her Methodist sisterhood: "Far too many women are denied access to repro-

ductive health care and safe childbirth, and laws don't count for much if they're not enforced. Rights have to

exist in practice—not just on paper. Laws have to be backed up with resources and political will. And deep-

seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed." And of course she wants to

change our beliefs with laws and strong –arm tactics to make us all submit to her perverse agenda. And with

the abysmal ignorance of the Truth and the unwillingness of Christians to stand strong & act like men (1 Cor.

16:13) we may well soon be referring to President Hillary. And you can expect internment camp (more affec-

tionately called by liberals: reeducation camps) coming to city near you soon. You say really? I say have you

read any history books lately and try reading Revelation too.

When the Son of Man returns will He find faith on the earth,

Page 3

In light of recent events in America and the World, I am longing. As a Christian in a world that is increasingly

becoming hostile towards truth and growing more diabolical every hour, I am longing for Jesus, and His return. Reli-

giously, all things spiritual have come to be acceptable except for Christianity. Religious identification with God is ac-

ceptable, but to associate with Jesus is not. The Media’s agenda is intentionally reinforcing in a desensitizing manner

immoralities that were once taboo and considered abnormal. Politics have taken the detour away from God into depravi-

ty by degrading the constitution into a document that forces faith to stay inside the four walls of the church; instead of

where Jesus wanted it – out in the highways and byways. Self-oriented laws that give liberties we were never created to

have are being imposed upon the majority by the minority. Rights supposedly given for people to have healthcare that

raise costs and taxes all the while actually limiting life and regulating who gets the care. Internationally, ISIS is violently

eradicating in the name of Allah - all who oppose them with brutal beheadings and torturous persecutions. Nations are at

war against each other and themselves. Even the Church (meaning ALL believers) are being divided by the encroach-

ment of culture, watered down truth, unloving actions towards those Jesus died for (that is ALL people – Rom. 6:10),

and the same age old fights that plague the church. American’s in general have been wooed into a materialistic muse and

idolatrous spiritual stupor. The USA has so much, the need for God is not high on the priority list; rather the wants of

ease and pleasure have been slithered into the place of real needs. There is enough sin to go around in every lifestyle

present in the post-modern world that it is almost identical to the Graeco-Roman Era and the days Jesus walked the

earth.

A quick description of Roman times, some of the culture, ruling religious/political parties, and the state of that

day eerily reveals the clone like path America and the World is hurling hurriedly down. Herod the Great was not so

great, so much so that to gain the Jews favor he lavishly rebuilt the temple. Roman rulers were riddled with self-

proclaimed entitlements and laws favoring themselves. Avarice was the norm. The Sanhedrin was a religious civil court

allowed to rule the Jewish people in matters of religious law. It was comprised of Scribes, Pharisees, and Sadducees.

Scribes were the copiers of the sacred writings; the lawyers and official interpreters of the scriptures. They themselves

held their own interpretations to be as authoritative as the text itself. The Pharisees were the conservative theological

religious political patriotic party that imposed traditions. They considered themselves the “guardians of orthodoxy (right

beliefs)” and unsympathetic to those who held different views. The Sadducees were the theologically liberal group of

the day. Interestingly enough this group of religious aristocrats demanded a return to the bible. They considered only

the Old Testament as their bible and challenged the emphasis of traditions of the Pharisees; while being known as skep-

tical and cold-hearted. Slaves made up much of the majority of the people, and the average Roman owned 100; while the

wealthy owned up to 1000. Zealots were Jewish radical political fanatics wanting to through of the yoke of Roman gov-

ernment and establish a free nation again. Essenes were an ascetic religious group of mystics that “circled the wagons”

and moved in hermit like fashion into the wilderness. Herodians were a wholly politically minded group desiring to keep

the current political dynasty of Herod in power.1

Obviously the Roman age and ours is so similar that America and the World is ripe; ripe for the coming Day of

the LORD. Are we on the verge of the 2nd coming of the Messiah? Are we ready for Jesus to come again ‘at the right

fullness of time” (Gal. 4:4-7)? Will Jesus find us about the business of the Kingdom (Luke 12:43), or will we fall into

one of these categories of people? It is time. Time to set aside the things that so easily entangle us (Heb. 12:1, 2Pet.

2:20) and re-engage the call of Christ, embrace carrying our crosses, intentionally be missional with the Gospel individ-

ually and corporately, and hasten the day of Jesus’ return! Let’s begin by praying, by humbling ourselves, by repenting,

by stepping into the role in which we were saved for!

Come Lord Jesus, Come!

Living the Call,

Carrying the Cross with you,

DEACON’S CORNER

GOD IS IN THE TOUGH STUFF

Trusting God

Let’s get one thing strait. God is God and we are not. There's is not much disagreement on

that. It is also non-controversial that God knows more about anything and everything than you

know. God knows more about you than you know about yourself. Are we starting to hit a nerve yet?

What about God knows what character traits need to be developed in your life. Have we started to

reach a level of intimacy that you consider personally intrusive? Self improvement is an admirable

goal. But did you ever stop to consider that we usually want to acquire the type of character traits

that are associated with a life of ease and prosperity? We want to learn generosity-which implies

that we’ll have so much wealth we can afford to give some to others.

We want to develop humility-which means that we first must achieve greatness in order to

have something to be humble about.

We want to be known for the gratefulness-which suggests that God, through people and cir-

cumstances, has been so kind to us we should respond with appreciation.

We want to reflect to tranquil spirit of contentment-which supposes that we have a fret-free life

of ease.

But what if God determines that we need to develop an entirely new set of character traits? And

what if the character set he has in mind can be forged in our lives only through adversity? What if

he knows we need character values such as the following.

Patience. Stay calm without complaining when the need is urgent but the solution is not yet

reality.

Endurance. The ability to bear prolonged pain or hardship.

Forgiveness. Graciously excusing an offense that we committed against you.

Integrity. Sticking to your moral principles even when it means you will suffer unjust adverse

circumstances.

Honesty. Being truthful when it is the difficult thing to do.

If you think you know what is best for yourself, then you can design your life any way you want it.

Pick and choose those character traits that require no effort or discomfort. But if you truly believe

that God knows what is best for you, then you can’t pick and choose by disregarding what is im-

portant to him.

Welcome what God is doing in your life by accepting the adversity He brings to your life.

You’ll never get better if you only pursue a life that is easier.

Tough times wont break you; they will make you.

God doesn't design hardship to make you fall flat; but he does hope that you’ll be brought to

your knees.

The character traits worth having are those you acquire at the cost of personal sacrifice.

Health Ministry

Some things to consider before you go to your next doctor’s appointment.

Wise Choices

Tips for Your Doctor Visit

Make a list in advance of the things you want to discuss at your appointment.

If you don’t understand something your doctor is saying, ask questions until you do understand.

Take notes, or get a friend or family member to take notes for you.

Ask your doctor to write down instructions for you.

Ask your doctor for printed material about your condition or suggestions for where you can get more information.

Don’t forget that other members of your health care team, such as nurses and pharmacists, can be good sources of information. Talk to them, too.

Book of the Month

We have been given a set of books called the Yada Yada Prayer Group. There

are different titles with the series. The au-

thor is Neta Jackson. Here is a description of

Book 6: “Yada Yada Prayer Group Gets Roll-

ing”.

“What I’d like to know is how long is God

going to rearrange my comfort zone? It could

have something to do with my Yada Yada pray-

er sisters, who aren’t afraid to get in each other’s faces and tend to expect big

things from God.

But to move forward, sometimes we have to let go of what’s behind. In spite

of the loss of two dear friends. In spite of the breakup of a teenage love. In spite of the curse of HIV. In spite of prison time hanging over the head of a beloved

child. In spite of fire consuming the hopes of those who have nothing.

Yet out of the ashes, God is doing a new thing! It’s time for the Yadas to press on,

pray on and get rolling?”

You don’t have to read these in order and we have 1 – 7. There was not

enough room on the counter so some of them are on the bottom shelf of the fic-

tion.

Neta Jackson’s novels are spawning prayer groups across the country! There

is even a section if you would like to start your own Yada Yada Prayer Group!

I believe they are worth the read. Summer is coming!!

“Getting Through the Tough Stuff”

By Charles R. Swindoll 2004

It’s always Something-

Isn’t that true. Life and tough stuff go hand in hand. The stuff you see coming seems easier to handle, it’s

the treacherous assaults or “mental muggings” that hit us hardest. The tough stuff tests our deepest

beliefs or unravels our faith. Everything depends on our response. Thankfully God has provided us with

the answer-Jesus. Dr. Swindoll takes us on a walk through Matthew, Mark, Luke and John showing us

how Jesus faced his own tough stuff and got through it; and He can give you supernatural strength to get

through the “tough stuff” too.
