Firmness after Ramadhan 25th August, 2013

This is a transcript of a lecture given in Al Huda sisters.. We ask Allah subhana wa ta’ala for His forgiveness and His

Mercy. Anything that is good from these notes is from Allah subhana wa ta’ala. Any mistakes & misrepresentations are

my own. I ask Allah subhana wa ta’ala for His forgiveness and to put forgiveness in the hearts of those who read them.

Introduction

We need to rely on Allah completely and put our trust in Allah in order to be

firm after Ramadhan. Ask Allah to make you firm and then fully trust Him.

We all want to continue what ever we were doing in Ramadhan. Ask Allah to

make it easy that you can fast the six days of Shawaal. We all are in need of

Allah. Today we will learn how we can use our limbs to stay firm on our

activities we do in Ramadhan.

Tak e c ar e of your d eeds

The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “O people,

you must do whatever you can of good deeds, for Allaah does not get tired

until you get tired. The most beloved of deeds to Allaah are those which are

continuous, even if they are little. The family of Muhammad (peace and

blessings of Allaah be upon him), when they did something, they would

persist in doing it.” Narrated by Muslim.

In islam rewards are also given for such deeds. Like if you fast each month

for three days then you get the reward of fasting the whole year. Prophet

Muhammad (Sallaho alihi wassalam) said that the one who fasts for one day

then Hell fire is made 70 years away from that person. This person should be

fasting one day each month. Keep your self connected to Quran even when

Ramadhan gets over. Even if you study one Ayah that is enough but it should

be continuous. Don’t leave the connection Allah will appreciate even if you do

little. Start praying voluntary prayers now. Don’t delay your plans. Allah

opens the gates of goodness for people according to what is best for them.

Some people will be fasting, some people will be helping others. So you need

to hold on to that.

Rec it ing t he Qur an

Quran is a light and spirit. It’s not just about reading the Quran without any

understanding. It should have an effect and impact on your life and actions. It

should change your life. You need to understand the Quran. It is the speech of

Allah and Angel Jibreel brought it down so we are worshipping Allah by

reciting Quran.We are not selfsufficient, we need Allah so we need to be

steadfast. In today’s time we need to attach to Quran. We need to know what

is right and what is wrong. So that Allah shows us the right way. Pondering

on the Quran is to think deeply over the Ayaat of Quran and it will lead you to

actions. Tafseer is to know the meaning while Taddabur is more than that that

you start to take action on it. Quran has rights upon us Allah will ask us all

about Quran. What did we do with the Quaran? Did we ponder on the Quran.

We cannot make an excuse that we don’t understand the Quran. The Quran is

easy but Shaitan is making the Quran heavy on our heart.

This Ayat is addressed to Prophet Muhammad (Sallaho alihi wasslam) Allah

says that I sent this through angel Jibreel. It was sent down to keep us firm

on our faith. The Quran will be guidance and glad tidings for the believers.

Allah used His name Rabb here because Allah is nurturing and upgrade us

from a lower level to a higher level. We are all travelling to Allah and we all

will soon meet Him. There is only one way to reach to Allah. All other ways are

deviation from the straight path. When we are walking we need strength and

this Quran is our strength that will keep us going. A person without strength

is a dead person i.e. a person without Quran. In order to pass any test we have

to make efforts and in order to pass test with Allah we need to study Quran.

The person whose heart is away from Quran will be living in a distressed life

and he will be raised blind. This is because they acted blind in this world as

they rejected the signs of Allah.

We all are in darkness and we all need light and guidance. Darkness is to be

confused and you don’t know which path to take. We are sometimes not able to

understand situations and how to interpret them. Allah says that this Quran

is the book that will take you out of darkness into light. The Quran is a means

of firmness.

Allah is talking about the hypocrites here. A hypocrite is a person who

apparently is a muslim but in there heart there is disbelief and they have

hatred for Islam. Allah tells one of their problem that they are stingy in

spending and when the time to spend comes they will go away. The light in

this verse is that to Allah belong all treasures. Even if you don’t spend in the

way of Allah then Allah will replace you with people who spend.

If you do good to someone then the first one to benefit from this is you yourself

and if you do evil you will harm yourself. This is the light of Quran to make

you fine if you truly understand this fact then you will not grumble or be rude

to people. If you help others then you are doing good to yourself. A person who

understands this verse will never slacken or feel tired. You will grab all

chances to do good deeds. You will realize that people who ask for help are

actually your way to Jannah.

Allah commands us in the Quran to make place for people in assemblies. It

could be any assembly. If you are asked for space then give room. So your

reward will be that Allah will give you space. Allah did not mention where and

when He will give space. This is Rahma of Allah so that He can give space

anywhere and anytime. He can give you room in your heart. Yourheart will be

open. You will not only be smiling but you will even accept all the bad from

people with an open heart. Allah can also make your graves spacious. We need

to reflect on this do we do this?

A b a n d o n i n j u s t i c e

Zulm in Arabic means to put something in the wrong place and it also means

darkness. Stop oppressing oneself first of all. The first kind of Zulm is to

commit wrong against oneself b committing shirk or generally committing sins.

This is greatest form of injustice to one’s own self. Such a person will be in

darkness on the Day f judgment. After shirk committing major crimes like

backbiting, slandering and suspecting others. This suspicion is in your heart

and you earned a sin against yourself. This is the path of Allah so don’t do Zulm

on yourself or others.

R e m e m b e r i n g A l l a h p r o f u s e l y

If you remember Allah then Allah will send His Salaat upon His slave. This

Salat means Allah praising you among the angels. Angels will pray for you. we

all want Allah to praise us and angels to ask for our forgiveness. So to do this

we need to remember Allah. You need to make morning and evening

supplications a habit. Allah will never ask us what is beyond our scope or

capacity. Then ultimately Allah will take you out of darkness into light.

Whenever you are confused remember Allah.

Prophet Muhammad (Sallaho alihi wassalam) said that Allah has the

treasures of good and evil. The keys of these treasures are people. A tree in

paradise Tuba for the person who is opener of good and closes evil. You can be

key of goodness by using your wealth for the sake of Allah. Don’t become a key

of evil. Beware of bad company this is a major key to evil or good.

Morning and evening are the most beloved times to Allah so remember Him in

those times.

It was narrated from Abu Moosa (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the

Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The likeness of a

good companion and a bad companion is that of one who carries musk and one

who works the bellows. With the carrier of musk, either he will give you some

or you will buy some from him, or you will notice a good smell from him; as for

the one who works the bellows, either he will burn your clothes or you will

notice a bad smell from him.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 5543; Muslim, 2628.

You will be affected by them and eventually become like them.

You will see your defects from the companionship of a believing

companion. A believer is like a mirror and you will learn from them.

You will abandon committing sins. He will feel shy to commit sins in

front of them and later they will start to do good for Allah’s sake.

Helpful at the time of adversity. They will advice and guide you all the

time and after your death will invoke to Allah for your forgiveness.

If you want Allah’s love then have good companions. If you love someone

for the sake of Allah then Allah will love you.

A righteous friend will defend you in your absence and not backbite

about you.

If you are in a company of good friends then Satan will not be able to

come close to you. the attacks of shaitan becomes weak.

An evil companion will rise doubts about religion. On the Day of

Judgment the person will say that I had a friend in this world and he

used to doubt that do you really believe that there is a Day of

Resurrection and then they peeked in Hell fire and they said that By

Allah you were about to make us also among the hell fire ones.

Take you to do evil deeds. They will encourage you to do evil deeds and

encourage you in this.

Love for the sake of Allah is a very important Ibadah. Ibn Abbas (Radi Allah

Anho) said that the one who loves, hates, become friends and make enemies

for the sake of Allah only then he will become Wali of Allah. A slave will not be

able to taste the sweetness of Emaan until they love for the sake of Allah. There

are some conditions which need to be fulfilled:

Be an advisor for each other.

Prevent each other from committing sins.

To support each other in obedience of Allah.

To defend each other’s honor in their absence

Invoke the good for each other.

To visit each other if one becomes sick

Help each other in worldly affairs.

To love good for each other as you love good for yourself.

Hate evil for each other as you hate it for yourself.

Allah ordered Musa (Allihisalaam) to go and do Dawah to Firaun. Immediatley

Hazrat Musa (Allihisalaam) asked for good companion so that he increased in

strength and Remember Allah. If one of the companions feel slackened then

the other one will pick them and push them to do good.

Show Allah your eagerness to acquire knowledge Allah will open doors to do so

and make it easy for you.
