Absolutely incredible week last week! Such a great run even though our score didn’t reflect it. You are 1st place in my eyes. Remember that we can only control what we do. Rick will be in to fix more of the opener issues that we are having with staging. The visual judges gave us some great feedback. We have a lot to do this week leading up to the trip. NOTEWORTHY NEWS
• If you will be late or absent from a rehearsal, please have your parent/guardian EMAIL Mr.
Bird PRIOR to your absence. Please include your name, date of absence, and reason. NO
verbal excuses will be accepted. Mandatory presence is required for all shows and show
days. Mr. Bird’s email is: [email protected]
• SNEAKERS, SUNSCREEN & WATER….please don’t forget them for all practices. Sneakers are man-
datory. Practices are also getting chillier at nights. Please remember to dress appropriately. Please do not
forget a water bottle for all practices, including Saturday rehearsals.
• PRE-SALE SHOW TICKETS...Please see Lisa Hagg if you’d like to purchase any pre-sale
competition tickets (available the week prior to a show). She will be available in the back parking lot (by the band room) for a half hour on Saturdays at rehearsal drop-off time, and at dinner time up until the buses depart. If tickets are available by Thursdays, she will also be available at drop off and pick up times. You can also text her at (315)427-7059 to make arrangements. (SEE PAM SOUTHWORTH FOR TRIP SHOW TICKETS ONLY BEFORE DEPARTURE ON 10/5.)
• ANY STUDENT UNABLE TO RETURN ON THE SHOW BUS during any competition/event MUST follow the directions on the “not riding the bus back permission slip” attached and turn it in to Mrs. Southworth by the time stated on the form. Extra forms will be in an envelope on the JCB bandroom bulletin board.
• SHOE AND GLOVE INVOICES (band proper)...were handed out Sept. 12th. The due date was Sept. 21st. Please turn in any payment that is still owed.
• JOLESCH PHOTOGRAPHY will again be at the Dome taking ‘Dome Day Photos’ directly
after we perform this year. They will have order information at their table after the photo.

NYSFBC CHAMPIONSHIP MERCHANDISE
Each year the Carrier Dome sells short-sleeve t-shirts and hooded sweatshirts for the championship show.
We just received the offer below and are passing it along to you.
Sample photos of the shirt’s artwork is on the bandroom door .
Show day prices: $25 for white t-shirts & $47 for grey hooded sweatshirts (all sizes).
Advance sale prices: $21 for t-shirts & $41 for hooded sweatshirts (all sizes).
A discount is provided to groups that submit a minimum order of $200. Discounts are only provided to a
single group order and individual advanced sale orders are not honored. Some years we meet this mini-
mum & some years we do not. Your payment/order will be returned to you if we do not meet the minimum
order required. If not met, feel free to purchase Dome merchandise in person at the Dome on 10/27.
Advanced sale pricing/orders must be paid for & received by Oct. 10th
(the order will be mailed on the 11th to meet the deadline).

TRIP UPDATE We are going to Met life stadium to perform in the Yamaha Cup and then to Six Flags Great Adventure Park in NJ. As it was stated at the kick off meeting back in May, the trip cost was projected to be just below $200.00. Fundraising is always important for everyone!
The current breakdown of payments were as follows:
Sept. 5th—$50.00 deposit was due from everyone
Sept. 20th—$75.00 was due from everyone
Oct. 3rd—$75.00 final projected deposit...BUT READ BELOW!
Cool $$$ Newsflash... Wow! What a show of support from the Phoenix School
District, the Phoenix Band and Colorguard Boosters
and Arts in Education . We have received over
$10,000 to put toward our trip cost. Between this
support, and our fundraisers, our final trip cost will
ONLY be $125.00 per person. You can now void the
Oct. 3rd deposit. If you have not turned your first
two deposits yet they must be turned in by this Thurs-
day at the start of practice. This includes all mem-
bers and chaperones.
Please put all deposits in a the bandroom lockbox ONLY. Please label your envelope with your name and “Trip Deposit.”

Chaperone Meeting
Friday, Oct. 4th at 6pm before bag drop
off…all chaperones must attend.
Packed Bag Drop-Off
Friday, Oct. 4th from 6:30 to 7:30pm.
All Students will be allowed one packed bag.
This bag needs to be brought to the student
Check-in Point where it will be tagged &
searched as per the PCSD procedures.
Money for Trip
Please review our itinerary for our meal plan.
The kids will need to pay for one meal on
their own. A small amount of
spending/incidental money can also be sent
with your student if desired.
Medications and Meds Drop-Off
Important – Over-the-Counter (OTC) or
prescribed meds will only be allowed with a
current doctor’s script. ALL OTC or
prescribed meds must be turned in to the
assigned medical chaperone (Mrs. Andrews),
along with a current doctor’s script (if not on
file with us already) during the bag drop off
or upon arrival on 10/5. All meds MUST be in
their original, labeled container.

it can’t go on the trip.

gate for $30 (per website).

• Uniform Bag….includes uniform, black shoes, clean black socks
• GLOVES GO IN YOUR GARMENT BAG (Percussion & Pit do not have gloves and Drum Majors
wear white/black). Chaperones will tape gloves during bus ride to competition site.
• Hat Box…..includes shako ONLY
• Show Shirt worn for Saturday rehearsals and under uniform jacket
• Black Shorts worn under bibs
• Sweatshirt or jacket to wear at night if needed...nights are getting very chili!
• Deodorant (no sprays of any kind are allowed on the bus)
• Lunch or Dinner at JCB before departure (closed campus—can’t leave so bring in morning)
• No jewelry is allowed (unless part of a uniform) for a performance, so please leave it home.
• Instruments (please remember extra reeds, neck straps, sticks, etc….)
***Please let Mrs. Haynes know if any repairs are needed as soon as possible***

Our group photo is scheduled to be taken at the end of practice on 10/19/19 (prior to
departing for C. Square). We will also build in time for anyone wanting an individual
