HIGH EXPANSION FOAMSYSTEM
High expansion foam system is installed fro LNG drain pits v-902 & v-903 system is automatically activated on detection of an LNGspill.
Foam system can be operated manually by local control panel or
the FGS panel.
A foam depth of 1.8 m can be achieved with in 1 minute with foamstorage for 1hour operation.
Foam system will stop after 3 minutes & need to be manuallyrestarted if required.

INERGEN -FIXED FLOODING SYSTEM
IN MAIN CONTROL ROOM Inergen system is installed in main control room at engineering
room, rack room & battery room and also in GTG PANEL ROOM. Inergen system consist of a mixture of gases that is Nitrogen- 50.5
%, Argon -40.5 % & CO2- 9% Inergen system is operated automatically by sensing of cross zone
fire detectors.
Prior alarm is sounded before actual activation as a warning of gas release & with warning to escape from the area immediately.
Actuation involves release of gas in the concerned area & subsequent fire extinguishment by the oxygen depletion potentialof the gas.
After fire extinguishment is achieved by the release of gas theaffected area is ventilated to facilitate the release of inergen gasfrom the spot.

NITROGEN -FIXED FLOODING SYSTEM
IN GTG & ELEC. SUB STATION Nitrogen system is installed in phase –II GTG PANEL ROOM, &
Electrical sub station PLC room. Nitrogen system consist of 100% Nitrogen gas in cylinder at 280
bar pressure. Nitrogen system is operated automatically by sensing of cross
zone fire detectors.

CO2-FIXED FLOODING SYSTEM AT GTG
CO2 fixed flooding system comprise release of carbon dioxide gasin the enclosed area of GTG which is on fire.
The fire is sensed by cross zone of fire detectors installed in GTGwhich gives indication to the master cylinder of CO2 fix floodingsystem for release of carbon dioxide in the fire affected area.
Carbon dioxide gas smothers the fire, that is cut off the oxygensupply by way of its oxygen depletion potential.
After the fire is extinguished the doors of the concerned GTG areopened to stimulate the escape of gas from the area.
System can also be operated manually by actuation of pushbutton.

FIRST AID FIRE FIGHTING
Portable fire extinguishers for the purpose of first aid fire fighting are installed and placed invarious location relevant to the hazard in thearea.
Dry chemical powder, Foam & CO2 type fireextinguishers are kept in plant location as ameans of first aid fire fighting.
Regular training on use of first aid fireextinguisher is imparted by fire departmentregularly for effective use portable extinguisherin case of fire.

DESCRIPTION OF FIRE, GAS & SPILL
DETECTION The fire, gas & spill detection facility is installed on the LNG
terminal identifies 14 areas for constant monitoring .These areasare :
Jetty head Trestle & unloading drain drum LNG TANK T101 & T102 LNG TANK T103 & T104 Recondenser LNG HP pumps BOG compressors Shell & Tube vaporizers Process drain drum Submerged combustion vaporizers Fuel gas heater Metering station Pig launcher & metering station TTLF

DESCRIPTION OF FIRE ,GAS & SPILL
DETECTION The area identification is displayed on the mimic panel in the main
control room. Depending upon the risk in above mentioned area, various detection devices are located for detecting gas leak, fire,LNG spill. For gas leak detection alarms at 20%& 60% LEL alarmcomes in the MCR. The gas detector are catalytic & will lead toemergency shutdown via two gas detectors sensing 60% LELvoting system. The fire detectors are of UV/IR type and any two of which in a given plant area will automatically activate that area’s fire water deluge system.
Buildings are protected by smoke detectors that are installed in allrooms, cable trenches and sub floor areas. If fire is detected in abuilding then the common alarm is activated on the fire alarmsystem panel as well as in the FGS system in control room andfire station.
Manual call points are installed in the plant areas & building tocommunicate fire by breaking of the glass.
