1. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION :
FIRE PROTECTION PLASTERING
KLIMASAN-F
KLIMASAN-F : Perlit is a natural Vulcan rock. Our ecological building and insulating
material are based on Perlit. Through short-term heating water which is enclosed in the rock
is vaporizing and the expand material is enlarged 15 times of its original volume.
The expanded Perlit consists to 70 percent of silicone dioxid (Si2O3) and is therefore like
natual glass. By vaporizing water capillaries are formed, which provide a good heat
insulation as well as regulation of humidity and sound vibrations.
Perlit does not contain any contaminants. It is frost resistant, inodorous, surface-active and
absolutely inflammable.
With excellent characteristics :
- Confortable and healthy indoor environment.
- Natural drainage of wet bricking
- Extremely good isolation against heat & cold
- Easy to handle and low cost
- High carrying capacity

Hanse-Blue Westerland-Blue Möwe-White
Please read the instructions concerning pre-treatment of the underground,
the structure of paintwork and the execution of paintwork in the handling advice.
The consomption of the outside colours depends on the absorptive capacity of the underground.
Normally app. 400g/m2 colour and fixation is needed. If there is a strong absorptive underground
you apply additional fixation.
The indoor lime colours are handled as a lime product.
Please read futher information in the handling guidelines.

4.1-APPLY ON STEEL-WORK :
4.1.1- Check List :
Ensure that : The primer is compatible with klimasan-F and has been applied correctly. The overcoating period for the primer has not been exceeded. The correct primer is used for galvanised steel. All damage to the primer has been repaired & re-primed. Site and weather conditions are within specification. Klimasan-F is stored correctly. Surface is clean, dry and free from contamination. Correct spray equipment is available, if appropriate. Application instructions have been read prior to commencement of work. Ensure different basecoats are not applied on the same section of steel. Equipment should be clean and free from contaminants or dried material. Wet film gauges are available for use.
4.1.2- Preparation :
Klimasan-F should be applied onto a clean, undamaged, dry and primed steel surface.
Certain types of primers can cause adhesion problems and should be avoided. These include:
Chlorinated rubbers
Bitumen
Thermoplastic primers
Galvanised surfaces should be prepared by an application of T-wash or mordant solution
followed by a compatible non-saponifiable primer. The primer should be applied in accordance
with the manufacturer’s instructions.
If a zinc rich primer is used, it is advisable to seal this with a suitable tie coat or travel coat
prior to shipment to site. If the steel is left exposed to the atmosphere with just a zinc rich
primer, surface salts may build up on the steel. These salts, if not adequately removed, may
cause adhesion problems for any subsequent coating applied. Removal of the salts can be
achieved by high-pressure washing. If adequate removal of the salts cannot be guaranteed, a
suitable tie coat may have to be applied prior to the application of the klimasan-F
Klimasan-Perlit GmbH should be consulted for technical advice when zinc rich primers or the
overcoating of existing paints are specified for use.

4.1.3-Site Conditions During Application :
Klimasan-F is recommended for application and use on dry protected structural steel only.
Klimasan-F should only be applied when the air and steel temperatures are above 5oC. Relative
humidity should be below 80% for successful application. Steel surface temperature should be
a minimum of 3oC above the dew point.
Ensure the steel is dry and free from contact with rain or condensation during the application
and drying of klimasan-F.
4.1.4-Mixer Reccommendations :
Mixers rotating at 35 to 40 RPM. Continuous mixers may be used but a decrease in yield may
occur.

4.2-APPLY ON BRICKWORK - CELLING - TUNNEL:
4.2.1- Preliminary Work :
Klimasan can be applied to all stonework in old or new buildings.
The preparation of the ground work takes place according DIN 18550.
Old plaster must be chipped off down to the stonework, loose stonework parts, as well as loose
plaster - and remaining mortar have to be removed.
With stonework construction using different techniques, please consult the special processing
instruction leaflet!
With Splatter technique, mortar group P III, to receive a uniform, load-carrying underground.
With new buildings pre-splatter the whole surface.
In old buildings pre-splatter verruciform (50-70 % of the surface).
4.2.2- Mixing :
15 to 18 litters of potable water per bag.
DO NOT MIX MORE MATERIAL THAN CAN BE USED IN 30 MINUTES
- With hand-processing, the entire sack content is mixed in the force - or gravity- mixer
under addition of approximately 15 to 18 liters of clean water.
The maximum mixing time of 5 minutes should not be exceeded.
- For the mechanical processing, customary plaster-machines, that are equipped with a
device to work with insulation plaster are suitable. It is important to use the screw
conveyor as stipulated by the manufacturer.
Mixers rotating at 35 to 40 RPM. Continuous mixers may be used but a decrease in
yield may occur.
For processing, large volume hoses of at least 20m
hose length have to been used.
