1. Product DescriptionBiostop® 500+ is a one component,general purpose fire rated sealant andsmoke seal for construction joints andaround penetrations through fire ratedwalls and floors. Biostop® 500+ is awater based, extremely intumescent,non-sag caulking grade sealant that iseasy to apply as well as to retrofit. Itcures to an elastomeric seal that issuitable where dynamic movement isexpected. In the event of a fire,Biostop® 500+ will prevent the spreadof flames, smoke, hot gases and waterthrough joint openings and through-penetrations. No dilution or mixing isrequired for use. No special skills arenecessary for installation. Biostop®500+ is applied with a conventionalcaulking gun, bulk loading gun or canbe troweled from the pail. For largeapplications, it can be pumped directlyfrom the pail. Biostop® 500+ is ratedfor 1, 2, 3 and 4 hours and has beentested in accordance with the ASTME814, (UL 1479), UL 2079 and ULC-S115-95 test standards. BIOSTOP®500+ is protected in a wet stage as wellas in a dry stage against mold growthwith a combination of biocides.

4. Installation DataInstall Biostop® 500+ using standardcaulking techniques or trowel frompails. Biostop® 500+ may also bepumped from the pails. Whendamming materials are needed, useonly materials approved for thespecific application.

TYPICAL TOP OF WALLINSTALLATION

Step 1)Tightly pack the flute openings andrelief gap with fiberglass insulation.Recess insulation a minimum 1/4"from the wall surface.

Step 2)Gun, trowel or pump the sealant asrequired to a minimum 1/4" depth.Properly tool sealant surface flushwith the wall.

5. Testing DataBiostop® 500+ has been tested inaccordance with UL 2079 and listedat Warnock Hersey International, Inc.For specific test criteria, refer to theUL's Fire Resistance Directory orWarnock Hersey International ListingDirectory or call RECTORSEAL .

Biostop® 500+ was tested at positivepressure with a minimum 0.01 inches(2.5 Pa) water and in accordancewith ASTM E814, (UL 1479) UL2079 and CAN4-S115-M85.

Complies to Required EnvironmentalExposure Testing of AcceleratedAging and High Humidity as per UL1479 Fire Test of Through-PenetrationFirestops.

FGG/BM/CZ™ System Compatible*indicates that this product has beentested, and is monitored on an ongoingbasis, to assure its chemical compatibil-ity with FlowGuard Gold®,BlazeMaster® and Corzan® pipe andfittings.FlowGuard Gold®, BlazeMaster® and Corzan® arelicensed trdemarks of Lubrizol Corporation.

6. Storage & HandlingBiostop® 500+ should be storedbetween 35˚ and 120˚F. to obtain aminimum 2 year shelf life. NOTE: Donot dilute, no mixing is required. Bestif protected from freezing. If freezingoccurs, thaw completely before using.Keep products stored under protectivecover in original containers.

7. AvailabilityBiostop® 500+ is available in 10.3 oz.& 30 oz. caulking tubes, 20.2 oz.sausage packs and in 2 & 5 gallonpails.

8. LimitationsBiostop® 500+ is not designed to be used inareas under continuous immersion or in areaswhich would be continuously wet. Biostop®500+ should not be used against hot uninsulatedsurfaces above 300˚ F.

PRECAUTIONS: Do not take internally. Maybe harmful if swallowed. May cause eye andskin irritation if prolonged or repeated contactoccurs. Wash after handling. FIRST AID: Forany overexposure, get immediate medicalattention after first aid is given. Eyes- Flush 15minutes with clean water. Skin-Wash withsoap and water. Inhalation-Remove to freshair. Ingestion-Only if conscious, give largeamounts of water and INDUCE VOMITING.FIRE AND SPILLS: Use water fog, CO2, foam,or dry chemicals. Wipe up spills to preventfooting hazard.
