FINN-POWER L6:SPEED MEETSACCURACY
Linear drive technology for high speeds
The breakthrough of linear motor applications inmachine tool operation is a reality. Once again,FINN-POWER is at the leading edge of technologi-cal progress. The positioning technology of theflying optics L6 is through digitally-controlled lineardrive motors.
FINN-POWER's unique frame construction com-pletely eliminates the technical problems some-times associated with linear drives – the risk ofcontamination and heat generation. Thus, thebenefits of this technology can be utilized to the full-est. Extremely high speeds are possible due toa low friction and direct drive system. The simulta-neous positioning speed (X / Y) of FINN-POWERL6 is up to 300 m/min (11,811”). Accelerationon each axis (X, Y and Z) is more than 2 g.
Extremely accurate
There are no wearing parts in the driving system, thus, path accuracy is very high. Every unit istested according to our LKP7500 quality stan-dard and meets the following criteria:
Rigid frame construction
The L6 rigid frame design is patented by FINN-POWER. The frame withstands all the forces ofhigh-speed positioning and provides a solid base forstable beam delivery optics

User interface
The L6 features an OEM-designed laser resonator, developed in close cooperation with FINN-POWERto assure it meets all the quality and performancerequirements of the high performance laser cut-ting center. It is designed with only two externaldirect, water-cooled copper mirrors that are usedto guide the laser beam onto the focusing lens. Thelaser beam path protection is continuously pres-surized by specially filtered and dried air.
Constant cutting quality and cutting parametersare maintained by integrated adaptive optics. Fastlaser power measurement has been integrated. Inaddition, the resonator has an extended preventa-tive maintenance interval.
To minimize set-up time, an advanced, high-pressure cutting head is integrated into the sys-tem. The constant distance between the materialsurface and the nozzle is achieved with a non-contact, capacitive, integrated sensing unit. Thecutting head does not have to change when a focallens change is required – you simply insert anew lens cartridge! The lens mount can bechanged in seconds by utilizing this cartridgetechnique. Cartridges are available for focallengths of 5” 7.5” and 9”.
Additional features of the cutting head includeautomatic, fast calibration, including nozzle sur-face cleaning, and connections for three differentassist gases with automatic regulation up to25 bar (375 psi).
The Windows® based touch screen user interfaceof the L6 makes the system simple to operate. It features high-speed data transfer betweenthe Siemens 840D control and the rugged indus-trial PC with large capacity hard drive, DVDread/write drive for backup, as well as an Ethernetboard for connecting the system to the companynetwork.

INNOVATION FORINCREASED PRODUCTIVITY
Compact, modern design
Shuttle table placement
FINN-POWER L6 has a compact design withthe resonator and CNC built into the structure.FINN-POWER L6 has a sleek, modern, attractivestyle that complements its technical featuresand benefits.
The productivity of the cutting system is increasedby an automatic shuttle table system that allowsloading and unloading of the material during thecutting operation. The shuttle table automaticallymoves the processed sheet into the unloadingposition and a new sheet on the other table movesinto the cutting area. The operator can accessthe shuttle table from all sides when the system iscutting and light beams guarantee safety duringpallet change.
Positioning of the shuttle tables is possible on twosides of the machine, (A: front and B: back). Thisis beneficial when plant layout or production flowrequires a specific position. This versatility is alsoreflected in the availability of alternative materialhandling solutions for additional productivity.
Sheet clamps
Sheet probing
Machine safeguard
Equipment includes manual sheet clamps for thinmaterial applications. Automatic sheet clamps andretractable clamps are available as an option.
Angularity and position of the material can be auto-matically detected by the sheet probing featurewhich is included as standard. A precise diodebuilt into the cutting head utilizes the speed ofthe drive system to reduce measurement time to anegligible value.
The safeguard-enclosed processing area aroundthe machine ensures operator safety. In all ma-chine modes, the operator is protected againstmoveable machine parts, reflected laser beam, and metal splatter.
