It has been wonderful getting to know some of our students and their families and to walk around the school seeing students engaged in their learning. I look forward to fostering and building upon the many social and learning opportunities this school has to offer our students and to meeting more members of the school community as the term progresses. Finley Public School will be celebrating next week with a combined Book Fair and Open Classrooms. I would like to invite all parents, carers and grandparents to attend. The theme for this year is Every student, every voice. Principal’s Report

It is a great privilege to begin as the Principal at Finley Public School and I would like to thank everyone who has made me feel welcome during my first few days. BOOKWEEK AND BOOKFAIR PARADE- Friday August 16th, 2019

Dear Parents

The following information is to help you with your child’s bookweek costume.

Below is the book each class has chosen for the book parade and what costume we would like your child to

wear during the parade.

1/KL- What Sort of Day?- students can dress in polka dots, stripes, one colour outfit or multi coloured

outfit. Students will then be known as having a green day, or a stripy day, or spotty day or a yellow day

according to their outfit.

1/KW- Aliens love Underpants- students are asked to dress up as an alien with some funny/large

underpants worn over the top of their costume pants.

2C- Billy the Punk- students can come dressed as a punk, please use old clothes, ripped shirts and jeans.

4/3D- The Magic Hat- students to wear a magic hat.

4/3M- The Day the Crayons Quit- students will be given a specific colour to wear on the day and it is

asked they wear everything in that colour ie yellow shirt, pants to be yellow and hats will be made in the

classroom.

6/5A- Into the Woods- students are asked to dress up as a fairy tale character.

6/5L- The All New Must Have Orange 430- students are asked to wear orange- the story is about

buying the latest crazes, toys that then become useless objects.

6/5RW- Who Pushed Humpty Dumpty?- students are asked to dress up as any nursery rhyme

characters

We look forward to seeing some fun costumes on the day. If you would like any further information then

please contact the school office or your child’s teacher.

During next week, the students would like to invite parents to come into the classroom or library times to read

your favourite story. If you don’t have a story, Mrs. Taig will have some ready that you may like to read.

Book Week sales in the Library will take place throughout next week starting on Monday August 12th. The

library will be open for sales at 8.30am each day, recess and lunch and after school until 3.30pm.

The book fair parade will be held Friday starting at approximately 2pm. Parents/carers are welcome to attend

the parade and the Library will be open for purchases immediately following!
