Status of use of GIS in production and dissemination of statistics

Essential in small area production, since the coordinates of buildings are the core element

The official (free of charge) statistics are disseminated by administrative levels (municipalities, regions, major regions)

Chargeable services include data by postal code area, municipal sub-area and square grid

Boundaries are also chargeable

Rules for handling confidentiality

Confidentiality is based on legislation: The data protection rules applying to official statistics are contained in the Statistics Act, the Personal Data Act and the EU Regulation on Community Statistics

Statistics must be published so that target units cannot be identified from them
