BLOCK ASSEMBLY PROJECT USES PRECISE 1/4” SEAMS. TEST YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE BY CUTTING (2) 2-1/2” X 5” RECTANGLES. STITCH THEM TOGETHER ALONG THE 5” LENGTH. AT THE MIDPOINT, MEASURE ACROSS THE UNIT. IT SHOULD BE EXACTLY 4-1/2” WIDE. IF NOT, ADJUST YOUR SEAM ALLOWANCE AND REPEAT.

(1) 23” x 37-1/2”, FUSSY CUT.

(2) 5-7/8” x WOF strips, sub-cut (12) 5-7/8” squares. Cut the squares across (1) diagonal to make (24) triangles.(1) 5-1/2” x WOF strip, sub-cut (6) 5-1/2” squares.

(2) 3” x WOF strips, sub-cut (24) 3” squares.

(2) 2” x 37-1/2” WOF strips.(2) 2-1/2” x 26” WOF strips.(3) 2” x WOF strips.*(2) 2” x 38-1/2” WOF strips.(6) 2-1/2” x WOF strips, BINDING.

(2) 3-3/8” x WOF strips, sub-cut (24) 3-3/8” squares. Cut the squares across (1) diagonal to make (48) triangles.

(6) 5-1/2” x WOF strips.*

FINISHED SIZE: 48” X 63”

FINISHING Cut batting and backing 3” larger than top on all sides. Layer backing, batting and top together and baste or pin. When quilting is completed, trim excess batting and backing. Bind as usual.

Block1. Sew (1) B 2” x 37-1/2” strip to each side of (1) A 23” x 37-1/2” block. Sew (1) B 2-1/2” x 26” strip to the top and to the bottom of the A block. Trim the block to measure 25-1/2” x 40-1/2” to make the Center Block.

2. Sew (1) D triangle to adjacent sides of (1) E 3” square to make (1) Unit 1 triangle. Repeat to make (24) Unit 1 triangles total.

3. Sew (1) C triangle to the long side of (1) Unit 1 triangle to make (1) Unit 2 block. Repeat to make (24) Unit 2 blocks total.

Quilt Assembly4. Sew (8) Unit 2 blocks together, paying attention to the orientation of the blocks. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew (1) strip to each side of the Center Block.

5. Sew (1) C 5-1/2” square, (2) Unit 2 blocks, (1) C 5-1/2” square, (2) Unit 2 blocks and (1) C 5-1/2” square together, in that order. Pay attention to the orientation of the Units. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top.

6. Sew (1) B 2” x (50-1/2”) strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) B 2” x (38-1/2”) strips to the top and bottom of quilt top.

7. Sew (1) F 5-1/2” x (53-1/2”) strip to each sides of the quilt top. Sew (1) F 5-1/2” x (48-1/2”) strip to the top and bottom of the quilt top.
