On the other hand, by donning colors that align with your coloring, you will appear brighter, younger, and healthier. While an image consultant knows what to look for to prescribe your color palette, here’s a shortcut: Look at the color of your veins on your wrist. If your veins are blue, you are typi- cally cool undertone. You will look better in cooler colors (purple, blue, green). If your veins are greenish in color, you are yellow undertone and will look better in warmer colors (red, orange, yellow). “Once you narrow down your color schemes, choose pigments in that color family,” Denise says. “You can wear every color, as long as it is within the same hue as your skin tone. For example, if you choose red, understand there is a blue-red, which is cool, and an orange-red, which is warm. Keep in mind you want to complement your wardrobe with color—not reinvent it. Here’s how to measure your balance points: Use a string or a beaded necklace, and measure from forehead to chin. Then take that same measurement from chin down to chest. Necklines look best within half of this point—it doesn’t have to be exact. To determine your second balance point, take the string or necklace ear to ear, under your chin, and drop it down to your collarbone at the top of your shoulder. Your second balance point is the spot where the center falls. This measurement is a great point for necklines and necklaces, although that does not mean you can’t pair them with long necklaces. FIND YOUR COLOR PALETTE

Even if a color looks great on the hanger, if the colors you wear don’t compliment your complexion, you can appear dull, sallow, and aged. On the other hand, by donning colors that align with your coloring, you will appear brighter, younger, and healthier.

While an image consultant knows what to look for to prescribe your color palette, here’s a shortcut:

Look at the color of your veins on your wrist. If your veins are blue, you are typi-cally cool undertone.

Keep in mind you want to complement your

wardrobe with color—not reinvent it. Add pieces with bold colors and bright accents—you can use the colors in the 2015 Fall Palette (see sidebar).”

COLOR ME HAPPY

Skinny Dark Denim l FASHION FORWARD | My friend Collie, the owner of Rouge in Princeton, N.J., introduced me to these great-fitting L’AGENCE jeans; I am mad about them. Everyone needs to have a dark denim in their closet to pair with a fabulous fall sweater and a flat oxford for a casual look or to dress up with a silk blouse and a tall boot for an evening in the city. These jeans do not disappoint—the fit is flattering, comfortable, and luxurious. The jean features a contoured waistband and has incredibly soft fabric with superior recovery. If you want to learn more or try on a pair, see Collie at Rouge.

Faux Fur Vest l FASHION FORWARD | Nothing says luxury like fur. I love Nordstrom’s Polo Leah faux fur vest. It has a high-neck collar, making it sophisticated yet versatile—you can dress it up or wear this vest casual because of the light color. For a casual look, pair it with dark denim with a turtleneck or your favorite long-sleeve T, or throw it over that amazing black wrap dress with high-heel boots for a knockout look. I would also wear it with a long skirt, kitten heels, and a short-sleeve T. The fur gives it the touch of elegance and the feel of glamour without overdoing it.
