Our babies are growing steadily. She is about 1 1/3 pounds. Since she's almost a foot long (about the length of an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up. Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon. She has learned to raise her eyebrows! Oh Lord, we thank You for our youngest and smallest brothers and sisters in the womb. We commend the living to Your protection and we remember those who have died. Give us the grace to confront the evil of abortion and eliminate it! We commit ourselves to be active int he Pro-Life movement and never stop defending life. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen

In an effort to increase our gratitude to Jesus and our prayer life, we will be praying this devotion together in the Church the remaining Fridays of Lent both at 9:30AM after the morning Mass, and again at 7:00PM the same evening. You are encouraged to join our Deacons and fellow parishioners for the Stations of the Cross. Each of the Friday evenings is sponsored by a ministry. Some of the evenings will have themed prayers for the stations.

As the March 17 primary Election Day in Illinois draws near, so does the expected challenge to Illinois' Parental Notice of Abortion law. The current law requires only that a parent or legal guardian be notified when a minor seeks an abortion. It does not require consent. The law also provides for exceptions and includes a judicial waiver for those children who have been physically or sexually abused. Every state bordering Illinois – Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Iowa – requires at least parental notification. After the primary, lawmakers in Springfield are poised to amend or repeal the current law – which is an affront to parents in Illinois. The Catholic Conference of Illinois is partnering with all 6 dioceses in Illinois to offer Life Advocacy Days, allowing pro-life pilgrims to travel to the Illinois Capitol to lobby their lawmakers on the benefits of the current law. Let your voice be heard! Be a part of the Diocese of Rockford Life Advocacy Day on Wednesday, March 25th. The Day will include an informative training session provided by the staff of the Catholic Conference of Illinois prior to our meetings with the legislators. Lunch will be provided.

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, FR. GRADY HAS MADE THE PASTORAL DECISION TO SUSPEND INDEFINITELY THE COMMUNAL EXPRESSION OF THE SIGN OF PEACE AT ALL MASSES, BOTH WEEKDAY AND WEEKEND MASSES. Please remember that in the current celebration of the Mass and its rubrics, the communal sign of peace is ALWAYS seen as optional and is NOT required. What is required, and will continue to be expressed at Mass, is the official Sign of Peace expressed between the celebrant and the people. As we always do, the celebrant will say “The peace of the Lord be with you always.” The people will respond “And with your spirit.” This is the Sign of Peace in the Mass. What will change is that the Deacon or Priest will NOT add “Let us offer each other the sign of peace.” We will instead immediately begin singing/reciting the Agnus Dei or the Lamb of God. Let us continue to pray for those in the healthcare industry who are on the front lines dealing with the Coronavirus, as well as the scientific and medical communities— that answers and remedies will be found soon.

THE FIRE WITHIN

This is very true! I always have a pilgrimage in the works. Interested in going to Spain, France and Italy this fall? (No worries Coronavirus will be long gone by then!) Pick up a flyer in the Narthex. This is a great trip for a great price. We have room for (4) more pilgrims as of printing of this bulletin. Can't afford or don't want to travel that far or be gone for that long? We have a great little 2 day trip planned for June 25 & 26. Grab flyers for both of these pilgrimages in the Narthex. Looking for options for 2021? Stop in and see me. I have other things cooking :-) Marcie G. Director of Evangelization

Marriage Tip: Have you prayed together during Lent (not just grace before meals)? Try saying a prayer together before bedtime or share your reflections on a short passage of Scripture. “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst.” Let Jesus fill your thirst for a blessed marriage. Continuing on towards Easter we would like our parish family to get to know those who are currently in RCIA or our Adult Confirmation Classes. Who are the newest Catholics of our parish family and what can we learn about them? This week we feature newest Catholics of our parish family and what can we learn about them? This week we feature Evangeline Sanchez, one of our Adult Confirmation Candidates.

Tell us something about yourself: I am 24 years old. I have two adorable dogs, Prince & Canelo. I currently work at Alexian Brothers Hospital as a registrar.

What motivated you to want to complete your Sacraments? I have been wanting to finish my sacraments for a while and many things lined up this year giving me the opportunity to complete my Confirmation.

What are you most looking forward to about your Sacraments? I am looking forward to growing closer to God and to having a better understanding of the Bible.

Thanks Evangeline...we are praying for you and can't wait until the Easter Vigil when we will see you Confirmed.

Love, Your St. EAS Family

Looking for a short, unique, holy and fun getaway this summer? Join Fr. Grady as he heads to a couple of fascinating spots in the Midwest. The first stop will be the Shrine of Christ's Passion in St. John, IN. Here we will have a private Mass and walk the inspiring outdoor stations of the Cross that talk to you. (If you are unable to walk there are golf carts to take you). At this shrine you will find one of the best Catholic gift stores in the country. From here we will head to rural Indiana and visit a working vineyard where we will take a tour and do some wine tasting. Don't drink wine? No worries, we have other options for you. We will stay overnight in Terre Haute, IN.

On Friday, we will head to the Shrine of St. Mother Theodore Guerin in St. Mary of the Woods, IN. This great saint is buried in this awe-inspiring shrine. It is without a doubt the most

beautiful church in all of Indiana! The Adoration Chapel will take your breath away! We will celebrate a private Mass, take a tour, have some private prayer time and shop in their massive gift shop. Travel on a coach bus as Fr. Grady leads the group in prayer and fellowship. This is a fun trip not to be missed! The cost is $225 per person double occupancy. Departure from St. EAS at 7AM on Thursday, June 25th. We will return approximately 6PM on Friday, June 26th. Pick up a flyer in the Narthex or contact Marcie (815)459-3033 X230 for more information. To you, O Blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation, and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also.

Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities.

O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ; O most loving father, ward off from us every contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our most mighty protector, be kind to us, and from Heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of darkness.

As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly peril, so now protect God's Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity; Shield, too, each one of us by your constant protection, so that supported by your example and your aid, we may be able to live piously, to die in holiness, and to obtain eternal happiness in Heaven. Amen

March 19th is the Feast of St. Joseph, spouse of the Virgin Mary, foster father of Jesus, and patron saint of the universal Church This prayer to Saint Joseph was composed by Pope Leo XIII in his 1889 encyclical, Quamquam Pluries. It is customarily added to the prayers following the Rosary, but is an excellent daily intercessory prayer for these times in which we live.
