I can think of no better place to live up to his

guiding dictum than on Grenada. You feel good

here. It’s that simple. Silversands hotel and

private villas are an expression of the love I feel

for this island.

A place to imitate the sensation of home while revelling in the exotic.

It’s a place to fall in love with both what is new and what is timeless.

Mostly, it is a place to feel alive. I hope you love it too.

N A G U I B S A W I R I S

Ralph Waldo Emerson once said that

for a happy life, you should “live in

the sunshine, swim in the sea, drink

the wild air”. I can think of no better

place to live up to the wisdom of his

guiding dictum than on Grenada. I

can imagine nowhere that I could be

happier.

When I first arrived on Grenada, I

was weary. The itinerant life had

slowly fostered an idea that I had

seen the world. The familiarity of a

life constantly checking in and out of

airports and hotels, coupled with the

unfamiliarity of the destinations, had

started to make me tired. Grenada

would be, I assumed, another in a

long string of places I visited that

year. What I could not have known

was that I was about to fall in love.

Grenada’s sobriquet as ‘the spice island’ is apt in so many

ways beyond its accolade as the world’s biggest exporter of

nutmeg and mace. There is spice in the air, in the attitudes,

in the country’s very soul. That old adage about variety could

not be more fitting across this three-island nation. And that’s

what I remember on the first drive after touchdown; as the car

rolled across these unfeasibly green lands, sweet-smelling flora

– bougainvillea, hibiscus, mango and guava and papaya trees,

poinsettia and orchids – carpeted the landscape, a new vision

in vibrant colours to look at with every revolution of the wheel.

What I could not have known was that I was about to fall in

love. Then we arrived at Grand Anse beach. It’s a sight that will

never get old. The wild, almost indecent beauty of it is etched

into my consciousness forever; its white whites and blinding

blues seared indelibly into my mind. I guessed then that this

was a place where happiness would be inevitable. Now I know

it to be true.

Azure beaches and beautiful forestry and tropical

fruit are not everything. It is the people of Grenada

that are all. If I kept a travel diary, it would tell

tales of many kindnesses, both from strangers and

from familiars, all over the world. But on Grenada,

the warmth of the welcome and the willingness

to break bread – or barbecued catch of the day

– with strangers is not an added bonus or the

preserve of the unusually hospitable; it is ingrained.

It is part of the national psyche. I am extremely well

travelled but I have never come across people who

are as kind and sweet as the Grenadians.

You feel good here. It’s that simple.

Someone once said to me that Silversands should

have a private beach. I said, “Not in Grenada. You

don’t need a private beach because the people are

so nice.

You would feel like you were missing out!”

It would have been easy to keep Grenada’s

captivating magic a secret. But that would be to go

against the generous spirit of the people who live

here, for whom sharing is everything. Silversands is

an expression

of everything I love about this island.

I hope you love it too.

Living well is at the heart of our

philosophy. Here’s why luxury is just

the minimum requirement – and why

Silversands is a destination with benefits

T H E R E S O R T

Palatial rooms, impeccable service and an elegant

sufficiency of whatever you need, whenever you

need it – however outlandish the whim? Sure.

At Silversands, luxury is about so much more than

what is tangible. After all, it is implicit that the

experience should be flawless; Silversands offers a

landscape in which the gold-standard of comfort

and style reaches a new apotheosis. But if sating

every conceivable longing provides a base coat,

then the sense of freedom it fosters amongst its

guests forms the bigger part of the picture. For

when we are free, that’s when we are really living.

Teetering on the brink of the hot white sands

of Grand Anse beach, with all its attendant wild

beauty, stands a hotel. Glorying in its beachfront

position, guests might swim its iconic 100-metre

pool, gazing its length to the infinite view across

the bay’s impossibly blue waters. They might lose

themselves in the stellar spa; or wonder at the

hand-caught, locally sourced spectacular food.

“We are trying to do something very modern, aimed

at clients who go to St Barts or Barbados and think

there’s nothing like that in Grenada. We want to show

these clients that coming to this nature-blessed island,

that has somehow kept its originality is worthwhile.”

The sensation of being lost in this world of

unsullied beauty is seductive; for some it will

prove irresistibly so. And that’s why Silversands

bridges the gap between the five-star hotel

and the permanent residence; dotted along the

beach and amid the hillside above, nine awe-

inspiring villas present an opportunity to claim an

everlasting piece of this undiscovered hideaway.

Here, residents can live entirely self-contained, or

make full use of the hotel’s considerable assets and

services. Checking out is no longer an inevitability.

Silversands is conceived as the antidote to the

faceless, homogenous luxury that forms the

backdrop to merry-go-round of the frequent

traveller. It is a place where luxury isn’t gated off

from the rest of the world, but is a beautiful addition

to it. A place from which to explore, to delight in

local landscapes and indigenous customs. A place

that allows you to get under the skin of a beautiful

country, instead of skimming its surface. It is a place

to be mindful. A place to really live. A place to get

off the merry-go-round. To finally sit still.

Silversands’ hillside villas present

secluded sanctuary, spellbinding views,

cascading terraces – and a world where

five-star service is available on tap

The atmospheric throb of cicadas fills the night

air. The sun melts like molten gold into the sea.

Glasses chink on the veranda, toasting a soon-

to-be demolished feast, freshly caught from the

Caribbean sea. The air is still, save for a gentle

sea-scented breeze and the night is young. The

transcendent

view from the terrace is unparalleled.

The scene is typical of any given night at a Silversands

hillside villa. The elevated position supplies both

seclusion and startling drama. Designed to spill its

numerous levels – all understated luxury – down the

hillside, the villa cascades into a series of spectacular

hanging gardens. As a window onto Grenada, on this

world of tranquillity and vivacity, it is unbeatable.

The terraces – so fluid they resemble

nothing so much as a waterfall –

provide a surplus of spots to absorb

the remarkable views across the

azure sea, to recline and to revitalise.

The villas’ easy flow between outdoor

and indoor, enables every room to be

unzipped so as open out completely;

boundaries, then, between what

is interior and exterior become

arbitrary.

This is world in which you seamlessly

configure the environment that you

so wish for. At any given hour.

Hand crafted furniture in light

coloured oaks and soft-tone stone

ties the world inside with the

intoxicating tropical world and its

bounty beyond, while

24-hour service from the hotel

connects this sanctuary with the

water-tight, seamless five-star luxury.

Warm feet sink into silken silver sands. Each lap

of the sea spills onto the flawless Grand Anse

beach, gently lulling anyone within earshot into the

sensation that time is rhythmically and deliberately

decelerating. And with every retraction of the wave

back into the sea, each last droplet of world care

ebbs and recedes.

Silversands’ seaside villas present a world in which

life’s pace has one setting: unhurried. And in this

place of unbroken peace, five breathtaking villas

are positioned directly on the beach, dispensing

with barriers between nature and inviting this

incomparable seascape into the home, as the

most jaw-dropping wallpaper imaginable.

Each of the Beachfront Villas is designed as an individual pavilion with the upmost of

attention to privacy and the interaction with Grand Anse beach. Four master bedrooms

with seating area and ensuite bathrooms are located in the corners of the villa. The plot

sizes start at over two-thousand square meters and include a private pool of over one

hundred square meters and two plunge pools.

Each villa, positioned on impossibly white sands,

is designed as an individual pavilion. And within

this paradigm of the harmonious hideaway, the

tropical life is maximised to astonishing effect.

Outdoor pools, decks, and even al fresco dining

salas, are framed to create startling tableaux,

each scene framed by the natural tropical bounty

of Grand Anse beach. And as with the hillside

villas, the neighbouring Silversands hotel provides

immaculate service to the villas, allowing residents

to be restored to vitality in seamless style.

The architects of Silversands have created

a show-stopping masterpiece, peppered

with vistas as beautiful as they are surprising.

The star of the show? Grenada herself

D E S I G N & A R C H I T E C T U R E

“Those are the things men need just as much as

they need bread or a place to sleep.” So said the

great architect, Le Corbusier. AW2, the stellar

French design house responsible for the pared-

back yet startling Silversands, adheres to its

compatriot’s sage maxim

in spectacular style.

“Authenticity, nature, luxury and modernity all

come together in the strongest possible manner,”

say Stéphanie Ledoux and Réda Amalou,

principal designers at AW2, of the project. This

is paramount; for authenticity is chief amongst

the foundation stones of the whole Silversands

concept. And Ledoux and Amalou have garnered

15 years experience building hotels all over the

world, accruing prestigious prizes and accolades,

and always, always taking the time to get under

the skin of the local culture, wherever in the

world they are working. For the duo, a successful

building always starts with one thing: questions.

Lots of them.

How do people move through a space? Where does

the light fall? How will the users experience the

space? How will the building manage the climate?

What local materials can be incorporated?

How can the building achieve a sense of belonging

and an identity?

AW2 specializes, above all, in creating a lifestyle.

And nowhere is this more in evidence than at

Silversands, where guests and residents are invited

to become part of real daily life on Grenada. On

their quest for belonging, the design duo started

with the breathtaking natural landscape in all

its untamed glory, and – in accordance with

the Corbusian dictum – applied order to create

contemporary curated spaces from which to enjoy

the best of the island. Spacious rooms and carefully

created, often surprising vistas across both forest

and beachscapes make finding the beauty here not

just easy but inevitable.

Big, open spaces supply the knockout moments,

while a crucial sense of intimacy is never lost,

while tranquility, above all, reigns supreme.

Grenada herself both starts and ends the circle as

Silversands’ muse. Local architecture is referenced

captivatingly throughout. Meanwhile the easy-flow

inside-outside layout of the design triumphantly

gives the island’s natural bounty the stage as the

star of the show.

Grenada is a place that feels like home in an instant.

To foster that sensation further, those who invest

in a Silver Sands villa will gain an opportunity to

obtain Grenada Citizenship by Investment (CIP).

THIS ALLOWS

• Global mobility via visa-free access to 125

countries (including the UK, European Schengen

countries, Singapore, China, Hong Kong and

Ireland among others).

• Ninety-day sojourns in every 180 days in Europe

and the UK.

• No physical residency is required, and there is

no restriction on nationalities that may apply

for citizenship.

THE PROCESS OF APPLICATION

CBI has been re-established by the Citizenship-

by-Investment Act, No 15 of 2013 passed by the

Grenada government. Every applicant – including

family members – must be individually vetted, and

work through a licensed marketing agent. This

agent will liaise between the Investor and the Local

Agent

(who acts as Escrow Agent). The process of

applying for Grenada citizenship will be fast-tracked

to take

just four months provided all due diligence checks

are clear.
