Finance, Administration and Operations Update July 2019 Letter from Kirsten M. Volpi Executive Vice President Greetings, It’s been a busy summer so far at Mines! We started our summer off by a name change to our division in order to better reflect all that we do: Finance, Administration and Operations. Our Leadership Team is working on ensuring that our Division’s Goals and related Initiatives are directly aligned with the University’s strategic plan, Mines@150. We are in the process of developing our plans for Fiscal Year 2020 and beyond. Construction projects are once again a dominating activity this summer. We are happy to report that Spruce Hall, 1750 Jackson Street and the Parking Garage and Classroom Building are all on We are very excited that we have entered our next phase of planning for a Day Care Center on the Mines campus, located in Mines Park. With the hiring of Bright Horizons last year as operator of the Center, we have now entered the building planning phase. A campus Building Advisory Committee has been formed and is working with the Architects in this planning and design phase. Together they are seeking input on several aspects of this facility. Your input will help to form the design and services of this exciting new project. Provide your feedback today by following this link to a brief questionnaire Early Childhood Development Survey . Many of you were involved in a comprehensive Business Process Re-engineering study that we engaged in with Sibson Consulting in 2017/2018. We continue to work on ensuring that the recommendations that came from that initiative are implemented. You can see the most recent progress (from March 2019) Business Process Re-engineering and Culture of Excellence projects . Tressa Ries, Executive Director, Operational Excellence, is leading the effort to ensure that the recommendations are implemented and to continue the Business Process Re-engineering efforts. I would like to thank everyone for their hard work, patience and support during this busy and exciting time at Mines. Best Regards, Kirsten schedule for completion. Geophysics is set to move into the Green Center in August 2019 with continuing renovations on the 2nd floor and is scheduled to complete in January 2020.
