Personal Statement
Psychology both as an academic and professional discipline has been close to my heart.
Understanding the behavior of people and attempting to understand its possible reasons have
always been fascinating to me. Having understood the possible reasons of their behavior, I
have always been tempted to help them modifying their behaviors for their effective living.
My interest lies initially to understand and treat the behavioral anomalies and
psychopathology using theories of psychology. My professional training in Clinical
Psychology has equipped me with clinical skills to provide services to people who require
professional help. It gives me immense pleasure when I am able to execute psychology into
clinical practice and decrease people’s suffering and improve their well-being. Having
worked with people with psychopathology has helped me learning to work on building their
strengths. I now envision to see psychology helping to foster happiness in people, build
happy institutions/groups, and communities. I would personally like to make this planet a
better place to live using my academic and professional discipline so that people flourish on
earth.
As is evident from my CV, the amount of work I am actively involved in through my
publications and practical use of my discipline. The interdisciplinary approach is required to
work building positive human behavior.
