The objectives of academic project I and II are as follows: To produce system development, testing

and evaluation for their project.To mastery the tools that have been

identified.To produce the overall reports.

ACADEMIC PROJECT I

Foundation for Academic Project Skills (WXES3183)

INTRODUCTION

This course covers the following research activities: problem identification; literature review; evaluation of the research proposal; viva on the research proposal and mastering of tools; evaluation of the academic report.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, students will be able to: i. Analyze problems and produce problem

statements. ii. Identify appropriate solution approach for the

problems. iii. Review literatures related to the problems. iv. Use appropriate programming languages

and/or tools for each solution proposed. v. Identify commercialization opportunity for the

product to be developed.

STUDENT’S ROLES Register the correct course. Choose a project title offered by the lecturers of your

respective department via Ilmiah system. Meet the lecturer to discuss about the title and make

confirmation with the lecturer. (The confirmation is upon agreement between lecture – student)

Attend the Research Method Class (Please check the timetable)

Perform the academic project diligently and report on the work’s progress constantly. (Please meet your supervisor at least once a week.)

Attend the viva session and present your work. Submit the proposal to the supervisor before the

deadline.

EVALUATION METHODS

Continuous evaluation: 100%.

Academic Project I & II: Supervisor – Proposal - 40% Panels - Mastery of Tools/Viva - 60% 

Viva 2 panels (lecturers from your department who are

familiar with your topic) will be assigned to evaluate your work.

Please check the viva schedule.

Report/Proposal

Each student must prepare a proposal for academic project I which contains at least the following information: Introduction to relevant project/title. Statement of problems and the proposed solutions. Project scope. Project objectives that could be measured. Literature reviews where the students should be able to

elaborate and make a comparison on the methods/solutions that have been implemented before.

The modules/design/models/algorithms that will be developed in Academic Project II.

RESEARCH METHOD CLASS

A class conducted to provide a set of guidelines to students. intends to give some ideas on how to carry out

this course. will be conducted in 7 weeks ( 2 hours per week).

Students are highly recommended to attend this class as it will give as much information as needed.

INTRODUCTION

In this course, students are required to design and develop a prototype based on the problem and tools that they have identified in WXES3183, write a project report, present and defend their project.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Depends on your department. For e.g. For AI dept..... At the end of this course, students are able to :

Develop project using identified tools Demonstrate ethical and professional values in project

development and documentation Write report. Solve problems based on best practices Use knowledge from various sources for project

development

EVALUATION METHOD
