REVERSE OSMOSIS

Page 2: Final year project

Seawater filter is the process of removing minerals from seawater, leaving behind clean water. There are three types of seawater filter;

In my proposal I’ll use reverse osmosis.

REVERSE OSMOSIS

Page 3: Final year project

Reverse osmosis (RO) is a membrane-technology filtration method that removes many types of large molecules and ions from solutions by applying pressure to the solution when it is on one side of a selective membrane. The result is that the solute is retained on the pressurized side of the membrane and the pure solvent is allowed to pass to the other side. To be "selective," this membrane should not allow large molecules or ions through the pores (holes), but should allow smaller components of the solution (such as the solvent) to pass freely.

HOW DOES IT WORK

Page 4: Final year project

A membrane is a thin, film-like structure that separates two fluids. It acts as a selective barrier, allowing some particles or chemicals to pass through, but not others. In some cases, especially in anatomy, membrane may refer to a thin film that is primarily a separating structure rather than a selective barrier.

the membrane is designed to allow only water to pass ,while preventing the passage of solutes (such as salt ions).

THE DESIGN

time?• depend on the making of water filter container,

small, big, tall or large.

Budget?• The budget are cost nearly $250.

Workforce?• To build this system, teamwork is needed but you can

build it on your own and it takes time consuming.

WHY I CHOSE REVERSE OSMOSIS?

• FRIENDLY TO THE ENVIRONMENT

• DOES NOT PRODUCE HARMFUL CHEMICAL DURING PROCESS.

• REMOVES THE UNPLEASANT SMELL AND POORLY TASTE

• DOES NOT REQUIRED ELECTRICITY.

• SIMPLE DESIGN
